Testing out some new stuff, new lighting technique on the rendered version and the lineart one is an attempt at developing a style for tattoo art. I'm still pretty far from what I want there though.

And yes, that is aged-up Steven in a quartz uniform. I just wanted him to look more like them (and I just have the mental image of Holly mistaking him for a Rose stuck in my head so I had to make this)

Finally decided to finish this, Steven's most dangerous, most unstable fusion (even though they look kinda chill here)

We know Kafka is a reference to the Metamorphosis, obviously, but from what I've gathered from the wiki, Hibino seems to be just a regular surname, with just normal nature-related Kanji.

Except the の particle kept signaling to me that Hibino Kafka could be read as a sentence, so I looked up what Hibi meant and if Google Translate can be trusted, it means cracks or faults. Which is really fucking interesting because where do the kaiju come from.

So, with that, Hibi no Kafka = Kafka of the faults

And if you read into it with the Metamorphosis meaning added on, "He who changes from the gaps within the earth"

Narumi somehow manages to convince the top brass to make merch of the numbers suits kaiju in order to raise more money and gather funds

They also include Kaiju n⁰8 in that list bc Narumi is a little shit and why the fuck not

He thinks n⁰1 is gonna be the most popular bc he's the strongest and obviously the coolest, so he puts a lot of effort into making cool jackets and plushies and even colored contacts for n⁰1

He gets completely trampled by the sheer wave of popularity Kaiju n⁰8 gets

Second place is somehow Bakko

And he ties in third with n⁰10, to his utmost dismay

He tries to act cool in promotional material too

But he always gets outshined by Kafka/Kaiju n⁰8 playing with Mina and Bakko

Ichikawa gets dragged into doing promotional stuff too, but he only ever gets one line

"It’s cool"

Kikoru tries to hog the spotlight, but Narumi keeps stealing it back from her

Everyone in the third division ends up with Kaiju n⁰8 merch in some form

Kafka cries about it at least once (a day)

Mina has a onesie

Except once, he deployed as n⁰8 without permission and she wore it in the common room as soon as they were back from the mission. He thought she had forgiven him, but

"This is a threat"

And he's suddenly reminded of what they do to the numbered kaiju they capture
