Yeah? Sounds like a lot of fun- if my step-dad will let me. I might be a little mad when it happens- because it would definitely happen- but I won’t be too mad, because me wiping out probably would be really funny. And also, I feel like I’d have to teach you something, too. I think I’m up too early to be called lazy. 

I hope he does, it would be an honor to be the first person to see you fall repeatedly in the snow. Don't worry, I'm not exactly a professional Olympic-level snowboarder, so you'll probably see me wipe out a few times too. We'll call it even. Well, that depends on what you'd want to teach me. If it's how to put on make up, definitely not interested. My grandparents think 9AM is late, there's no pleasing them.

Truth be told, this wasn't the first time Arthur had seen her around or the first time he had cautiously glanced over at her from the corner of his eye. They both frequented the coffee shop often, him for his morning kick after working out and her with a textbook. He'd never really been the type of guy to strike up a conversation, letting the girls come to him first. Even so, it was getting ridiculous. She made him nervous for whatever reason he couldn't pinpoint at the moment and the very fact that she had noticed that he had been staring jolted him back into reality. Though thoroughly embarrassed, perception was everything in situations like this. Therefore, the smirk that he had grown accustomed to wearing surfaced on his features. There was an array of things he could say to her brave statement, but he was mostly happy that she wasn't exactly like all the other book nerds he had come across. She wasn't scared to speak up, something that he definitely liked in a girl. With a shrug of his shoulders, he gave a chuckle. "I'm not like most guys, it's offensive that you'd just assume that. If I was like any other typical guy, how would you know I was worth it?"

I was thinking about skipping last period but now that you’ve mentioned how close Christmas break is, maybe I should just be a good girl and go to class.

Or -- Or, consider this: We can go and get something to eat instead. It's just one period, they won't miss us and as long as we don't look too guilty, we won't get caught.

No…no, that sounds about right. It is, I must admit, kind of a big change from middle school. So it goes fast but there’s more work, so it goes slow? Maybe a tricycle, then. Well that’s still nice. I know I’m ready to see my brother again. Not so much a list as a few suggestions. I mean it, like, three or four things. Practical things like new jazz shoes, which don’t cost very much to begin with.

Middle school was definitely a lot less stressful, the only thing I really had to worry about back then was having friends. The work isn't hard here, there's just a lot, I think. Are you going to get me a tricycle? You're not supposed to tell someone what you're getting them, you know. Yeah? I'm happy for you, family reunions are always great, even if it's just one person reuniting with the family. Hm, jazz shoes. I'll see what I can do with that.

I’m sure that’s not really a super difficult task. Well, finding someone to skip school with wouldn’t be hard, but finding someone you’d actually want to skip with is different.

Exactly, there's not too many I'd want to skip with. I mean I know it's the middle of November, but I kind of wanted to go to the beach. I don't think anyone would really be up for that.

You snowboard? That’s really cool. I’ve never even been skiing, so I might be a little jealous of you right now. But, I mean, at least you get a few days to sleep in before you can go snowboarding, so that’s good.

Really? You should come with me this year, then. I'll teach you how to snowboard if you want, if you don't mind me laughing at you when you fall on your ass. Definitely, sleep is precious these days. It's worth being called lazy on the weekends by my grandparents.

You know we have off tomorrow, right? And then we have over half a week off for Thanksgiving?

I know, but we get two whole weeks off of school and that actually gives me enough time to go on a trip somewhere, preferably with snow so I can actually go snowboarding this year.

Why don’t you just play hooky one day instead of waiting for Christmas?

I'd need someone to ditch with me. If I just sit at home all day, that's almost as boring as school too.

Of course. I do at least two months worth of research beforehand. Good point, I don’t think high schoolers have high enough standards. We should definitely step up our wine game. But sure, I wouldn’t mind sharing.

You're dedicated, I like that. I, for one, watched all the Captain America movies and The Avengers to study... I might've looked some stuff up too, but not as heavily as you, I bet. I don't mind the hard stuff either, but I'd rather remember the party and what happened than be the one that passes out in someone's bathroom.

There's straps on the back of it, it's not too bad. I would do that, but what's Cap without his shield? I really wish I could do that thing where he puts it on his back, but I don't have anything to strap it on to. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint. There was an opening and I had to take it. Probably not as good as you, though.

You've got to commit to your costume, that's the way I see it, at least. This? 40s me wouldn't drink it, it's just cheap box wine. It's the only thing we have though, so I guess I'll have to. Wanna share?

It smelled strange. As my civic duty as Captain America, I have to make sure that no one is putting roofies in the drinks.
