The White Review (La Revue blanche), 1894. Pierre Bonnard (French, 1867-1947). Lithographed poster. MoMA.
Bonnard used as his model Misia Godebska Natanson Sert. La Revue blanche was a Parisian periodical that published work by avant-garde writers and included prints by contemporary artists. This and Bonnard’s other posters bear many of the same design hallmarks: unmodulated color, a playful depiction of flattened space, and a decorative handling of silhouettes and textures.
Julio Larraz (Cuban, b. 1944), In Our Constellation, 2014. Oil on canvas, 180.7 x 151.8 cm.
