it’s very funny to me when when people use the corvid family in its entirety to talk about creepy cryptic birds when they really just mean crows, ravens, choughs, and jackdaws. most corvids are not black and spooky, and yknow, I dont blame people for not knowing that, just saying ‘corvid’ is a lot easier than saying ‘crows, ravens, chough, jackdaws’ anyway, but I know. I know that when people talk about witches and dark entities and unnerving places being surrounded by corvids that there are really numerous brightly colored jays and magpies and that many of them are small and cute. I know that the witch you talk about only wears dark clothing because otherwise her and her 43 species of magpie would clash. I know that the dark poets bird friends you write about actually look like this:
