PRIDE MONTH - Asexual characters (headcanons)

Because of PrideMonth, I wanted to share the asexuality and aromanticity spectrum with everyone.

I know this blog is a genderblog, but I feel like there isn’t enough representation for asexual people during PrideMonth. So, I made a list of all of the asexual identities to let everyone know how big this part of the LGBTQ+ community actually is. You heard it, people on the asexuality and aromanticity spectrum are LGBTQ+.

Asexual: Asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction to others, or low or absent interest in or desire for sexual activity.

Aromantic: An aromantic is a person who experiences little or no romantic attraction to others.

Demisexual: A demisexual is a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection with someone.

Demiromantic: A demiromantic is a type of grey-romantic who only experiences romantic attraction after developing an emotional connection beforehand.

Greysexual: Someone who experiences occasional and/or mild sexual attraction.

Greyromantic: Someone who experiences occasional and/or mild romantic attraction.

Cupiosexual and cupioromantic: Cupiosexual is a subset of asexual. It is used to describe asexuals (people who never experience sexual attraction) who still desire a sexual relationship. Cupioromantic is a subset of aromantic.

Lithsexual: Akoisexual (also called akoinesexual and lithsexual) refers to a person who experiences sexual attraction, but has their feelings fade if reciprocated.

Lithromantic: Lithromantic (also known as akoiromantic or apromantic) is a romantic orientation on the asexual spectrum. Somebody who is lithromantic can feel romantic attraction towards others and also enjoy being in romantic relationships but only in theory. They do not need the affection to be reciprocated, and as such do not usually feel compelled to seek out a relationship with someone they are interested in.

Fraysexual and frayromantic: Fraysexual (and also frayromantic; also called reverse-demisexual/romantic) people feel attraction only initially upon meeting or seeing someone. These feelings weaken or disappear once a bond is formed.

Not once have I heard that I was a faker or that it’s just a phase. Suddenly I have more confidence and I dress the way I want. For the first time I told a guy in the street that, sorry I’m asexual and he respected it.

“Asexual characters are boring” I have traveled across eleven countries and ten states When I was thirteen I had hydrochloric acid dumped down my back and I walked away without a scratch When I was twenty-one I broke into castle ruins with a professor and found out afterwards that they were probably haunted

I once got stranded on a mountain while I was searching for the Cave of Zeus and got rescued by a little old lady who didn’t speak a word of English and the local village’s schoolteacher who did

I’ve learned how to surf on water, to dance with fire, and to bungee jump through the air I’ve walked up mountains, down beaches and through forests

My friends tell me I have the weirdest luck of anyone they’ve ever met and laugh about what mysterious forces must conspire to keep me alive

And yet, according to you a story about my life would be dull and uninteresting simply because I have no interest in sex

I wasn’t aware that that was the sum total of my value That no one cared about what I’d done only who

That every man must get a girl and every girl must be gotten and that to do otherwise is to be banished into obscurity

And yet I’m still here, still writing, still telling stories, and while I have been described as many things boring has yet to be one of them
