Some people really out here forgetting all the times Armin and Mikasa have defended Eren and helped him. Just because they werenât being considerate in Marley or didnât ask him what was wrong doesnât automatically make them âbad friendsâ. What about Eren? He withheld information from everyone and decided on his own how things should go without consulting the SC and just locked them up in prison.
I know Eren has been through a lot but heâs not a saint.
I feel the same way. Up until the time skip, the story has shown EMA all caring about each other and being considerate of one another. It seems to me quite obvious that Mikasa and Armin both could sense Erenâs withdrawal, and there is no doubt in my mind that they tried to cheer him up. Obviously, they didnât know how to best communicate with his depression like state, but I refuse to believe that they never tried. As a matter of fact, chapter 124 shows me that they try to cheer him up yet again: Mikasa offering him ice cream and trying to be cheery despite his obvious lack of joy. Armin taking his hand and encouraging him to remember how exciting it is to be in the outside world... To me they seem to be painfully aware of something being amiss with Eren. In earlier chapters, they also seem to dial up their own optimism to compensate for Erenâs low mood. It seems apparent that this is their knee-jerk approach in pursuit of lifting his mood. And just because their approach is failing, that isnât the same as them not trying. They arenât psychologists, theyâre kids. Excuse them for not knowing how to approach mental illness.
Moreover, depression - and depression like states - arenât full blown all the time. Itâs been years. Itâs impossible for Eren to be 100% sad/bad all the time. There are moments when the symptoms take a step back. When you do a physical task, go the bathroom, tie your shoelaces. Youâre not ON all the time. Likewise, as a bystander, you arenât on red alert every second for years. There will be moments when youâre more complacent, or the mood has been unchanged for so long that it becomes a new norm. Just because they werenât desperately trying to shake Eren and crying about how scared they were for him in chapter 124, doesnât mean they havenât had moments of crying to themselves out of sadness and worry, or that they havenât talked together about how to possibly help cheer Eren up. Going to Marley was a big deal that shifted the focus away from Eren because there was a lot going on. I refuse to believe that Mikasa and Armin didnât pay Erenâs mood any mind on days where there was nothing else in the way. The story so far has shown us enough pointing towards the opposite making sense.
Just because their attempt to cheer him up havent worked, doesnât mean they havenât tried. With all the sights and memories in his head, I think his downward spiral was inescapable, psychologist level friends or not. So his state being bad is not an indicator that MA didnât try to be there for him in their uneducated way.
I appreciate the heck out of this. I really hated how people wanted to shift the blame to Armin and Mikasa (especially Mikasa) for not... I don't know. Not saying or doing the right thing to snap Eren out of it? That's not how depression works and talk about putting a lot of pressure on Armin and Mikasa. I even had someone say they didn't think Armin or Mikasa was properly there for him at all over the course of the entire story. Ouch!
Isayama has been rushing to the ending I feel in general, so yeah, we're not even seeing how they interacted on a daily basis because we only seem to have time for plot.

Go See Promare
Completely unrelated to anything I post here, but Triggerâs Promare is coming back to theaters for an encore presentation Dec. 8th and 10th in the US. Tickets are on sale now and I urge people to go see it if you have the chance.
I wonât say itâs intentionally gay because Iâm bitter and I donât give anything that label that isnât completely blatant about its representation, but that being said I 100% agree with one article that gave it the term of being âqueer-friendly.â Itâs easy to read the two male leads as not straight.
Interesting world, interesting themes relating to prejudice, fun anime insanity with crazy powers and mechs, loved the characters, great aesthetics, and phenomenal soundtrack (Sawano who also does SNKâs soundtrack did this one.) Sub and dub are both excellent.
Not even a big fan of Trigger as they tend to be too âout thereâ for my tastes, but I feel like they kept it grounded enough that it worked for me. Though that being said, gotta have some willing suspension of disbelief for sure because it does pay homage to a lot Triggerâs old works.
Very minimum to almost no fanservice when it comes to the female characters. If youâre picturing Kill la Kill or Gurren Lagann, thereâs none of that. While the female characterâs arenât as prominent as the male leads, there are two that do play a role in the plot.Â
I loved it. Easily became one of my favorite movies of all time, 10/10.
*Wipes Off the Dust*
Holy moly, I log into Tumblr for the first time in like 2 or 3 months and so many bots followed me.
So, I probably should have mentioned this a while ago, but I donât much do tumblr anymore. It definitely lost its magic after the great purge, and so many artists had to abandon ship. SNK kept me coming back because itâs where most of the fandom was/is, but these last few months the story has been so...depressing, I suppose? I found myself unable to bring myself to log in to discuss it.
You can find me over on twitter at @raevell. Iâm currently in Promare Hell over there, though. Mutuals, feel free to ask me for discord deets if youâre interested.Â
Mostly posting this because I feel bad for people who sent me messages or notes... I just havenât been here. I probably wonât be much active until the manga ends or the anime continues, either.

Itâs not uncommon for those who donât view eremin as potentially romantic to claim that the two only see each other as brothers and nothing more. To each their own, and of course eremin shippers like myself donât feel the same. What I find amusing about that claim is that nowhere in the story do either Eren or Armin refer to each other as brothers. No really, Iâve never seen it.Â
If you want an example of a character who is/was seen as a brotherly figure, that would be Reiner. Eren explicitly says the guy was like a big brother figure for the 104th.Â
Iâve never seen either Eren or Armin say something similar about the other.
And truthfully, if their relationship were meant to be portrayed as fraternal only, then wouldnât other characters say as much about their relationship? Because we know what some other characters think of it:
Jean certainly didnât see their relationship as brotherly, otherwise he wouldnât have been so, yâknow, grossed out over it.Â
And of course, Isayamaâs famous commentary from one of the Q&As:Â
Q: It seems like Eren and Armin almost never spend time with other trainees?
A: There is a rumor that they are way too close to each other.
Iâm just saying, whatever the hell everyone else was seeing, they sure didnât think it was simply normal childhood friends with a brotherly relationship.Â
Say what you will, but Iâm not seeing any clear indication that the two have a strictly fraternal relationship.
Thatâs just my two cents.Â

EXCLUSIVE: A First Look Inside the FINAL Shingeki no Kyojin / Attack on Titan Manga Exhibition!
Part 1: Entrance & Opening Event/Press Preview
Part 2: Exhibition Interior - 1st Half
Part 3: Exhibition Interior - 2nd Half (Characters 1)
Part 4: Exhibition Interior - 2nd Half (Character 2)
Part 5: âManga Endingâ Audio Area and Final Room
Part 6: Exhibition Cafe
By @snknews Special Correspondents Daniel & Caryn Lix Edited by @fuku-shuuâ
As a resource for overseas fans of the series, we at @snknews are happy to be able to provide our fellow fans a look into the FINAL Manga Exhibition, which opens tomorrow (July 5th, 2019) in Japan and will run through September 8th, 2019. For those of us unable to make it to Japan to visit the event for ourselves, we hope this provides sufficient detail on the overall experience!
PART 5: âManga Endingâ Audio Area and Final Room
From the characters exhibit, you can proceed to the audio segment of the final scene!
The signs read:Â
Come nowâŚListen closely. You can hear the sound of the end of the storyâŚ
Ahead lies a room with only voices, The audio alone is presented from the scene of the âEnding Storyâ that the author, Hajime Isayama, currently foresees. Please imagine the scene while tying together all the stories so far.
After moving through black curtains, you enter a dark room with the audio that is apparently the vision for the final scene. There are sounds of fire, of explosions, and of battle. People shout and cry in the distance. At the very end comes the sound of a number of ODM (3DMG) gear engaging (Editorâs Note: This seems to indicate the final scenes will still involve battle?). Thatâs about all there is to it: itâs a vision of the future that doesnât get too far into spoiler territory. There arenât even any voices (Note: As there were reports that one seiyuu may participate in this portion, itâs possible that they did not reveal any character audio for press preview attendees).
Update (July 5th, 2019): As we suspected, according to attendees on the first public day, the very last part of the audio has added Inoue Marina (Armin) saying, âEREN!â
The final room is a large white room absolutely covered in storyboards and original character design sketches. An interview with Isayama plays on a loop, in which he explains that he never gets rid of any of his storyboards and might even be buried with them (Although heâs not sure theyâll fit in his coffin).Â
Update:Â The sketches of Porco, Falco, and Gabi reveal that they originally had different names:
Porco - Holst (ăăŤăšă) Gaillard
Falco - Falco Bach (ăăă)
Gabi - Gabi LĂźbke (ăŞăĽăăą)
Continued in Part 6: Exhibition Cafe
Many thanks again to our Special Correspondents in Japan, Daniel & Caryn Lix, for contributing the great photos and overview of this exhibition! You can check out Carynâs published and upcoming novels here.

Chapter 119 Spoilers
The thing that bothers me the most about what just happened in the manga is there has been so many asspulls at this point that I...canât even have any emotions about it. Like...did...did that really happen? No... Iâm sure itâs all right. This has happened so many times to so many characters at this point, clearly itâll be fine. Right?
