TW: Alcohol use and sensory overload
I hate that everytime I get tipsy, I get sensory overload.
My mind gets foggy and my body moves slowly, which are things that I expected to happen when I drink.
But I also experience other stuff that I wasn't warned about and that makes me anxious when it happens.
I feel some kind of uncomfortable buzzing underneath my skin, suddenly my hands can't stand touching anything and I have to keep them moving in the air, some sounds get really loud for a couple of seconds at random and startle me, everything sparkles so much to the point where I have to squint a little and blink a lot, my face feels as if it was made of plastic or something, and it gets harder to talk because my mouth won't open and even if it does, it takes too much energy to push out the words (and it's not that I can't think of words to say, I just can't say them).
I don't understand why this happens to me. I asked and nobody I know seems to have this kind of reaction to alcohol. I was told I might feel a little too relaxed when drinking, not that I'd feel more anxious than normal.
So I thought I might ask here too. Does anyone relate to this? Do you think it might go away if I get more used to drinking (I might build up a resistance or something)?
