I have two prayer requests:

I have OCD and dermatillomania (skin picking disorder). I have been struggling with picking my skin for several years. Usually when I am anxious, I pick at pimples and scabs on my face and body, sometimes until they bleed. It leaves dark scars on my skin that take forever to fade. It is very obsessive and compulsive, and it brings me momentary relief, but after I feel guilty. I am insecure and have low self esteem. I can't stop even though I want to. Please pray for me. Pray that God will give me strength to stop this.

Please pray that school this year will work out for me.

I’ve had this conversation a couple times irl and online, but y’all know that Christianity isn’t a religion of ease right?

Like it’s a common saying among my Muslim peers that Islam is a religion of ease, and I definitely see the beauty in that, but I need y’all to know that Christianity isn’t THAT.

And I’m not saying this in a “The world will hate you way” but because Jesus preaches things that make us uncomfortable.

Like it’s called RADICAL forgiveness and RADICAL love for a reason. You will CONSTANTLY be pushed out of your comfort zone. You are told to treat the least in society with care and respect. Yes, even the people you deem to be despicable and disposable. There are no exceptions to the rule.

All of this while challenging the power structures around you.

You are called to flip the social hierarchy on its head. This isn’t an easy task and goes against what we have been taught since we were young.

Cause we have been taught to hate, in some way, by everyone around us. It’s not an easy, or socially acceptable thing, to treat those we were taught to hate with kindness.

If you find yourself in uncomfortable situations while following Christ then I’m here to tell you that you are probably doing something right.

We Christians, we are the worst, we have a serious problem. We say everyone is welcome to come to church but when they do come, we are unprepared to receive them. We stand closed off in our little circles but we must welcome everyone. Everyone. The person might be your future killer, so what? That is God's business, not yours. We must open the circle. A man comes to me and says "Father, I am a homosexual and I have AIDS" (AIDS was a very frightening thing at this time. Very serious. Many priests would not visit people who were sick with it because of fear). And I said "So what? I am a doctor and Christ says His mercy is for the sick." Because this is the thing, mercy. We must always think "how would the Panagia [Virgin Mary] meet this person?" She would remove her veil and place it over them and cover them in mercy. So must we show mercy to all. Mercy. Mercy. We Christians are useless without mercy.
