You can call me Sunny, I am an adult, and I have been a fan of the game for about two months now (it actually became a hyperfixation of mine auDHD style). This is a sideblog, so if you do follow me, I can't follow back I fear! I also hope that won't be a problem in terms of interaction with me in general!

I personally see the song being sung from Phillip's POV about Howard because that man is bound to have some pseudo-religious guilt on top of the regular guilt he carries, and I can personslly see him worshipping Howard like a God out of habit.

Roleswap AU, but Grace swaps places with Howard, Katie Lou swaps places with Phillip, and Samantha swaps places with Thomas.

So a mother loses her very young son who was at the wrong place at the wrong time

A sister loses her older brother to an illness neither of them could control nor stop (and she blames God for taking him away from her)

And a beloved wife also loses her husband to his own illness, and she goes mad trying to bring him back to her from the dead via ancient eldritch god summoning, and even more deaths in her wake, while also growing more and more cruel and wicked in the process (not that she wasn't already; her beloved's death simply threw her so far over the edge that there would be no going back for her)

So basically, Katie Lou gets accepted to work alongside Thomas and Samantha when she's older, and Grace hates the idea because she's not only skeptical of that whole operation but also because she sees Katie as her daughter and Grace afraid to lose her like she lost her baby Howard all those years ago. So, she almost takes on this overbearing protective vibe due to deep-seated trauma that she didn't get to unpack in a healthy way and the fear of loss.

Also, Grace can be a little bit of an asshole as a treat. She can be a little mean and angry. She lost her baby in this AU she's allowed that.

And Katie originally goes to Greatmaw to try and find a cure for Phillip's illness as a way to honor his memory and so that no other person contracts nor dies from it, but then it devolved into an obsession to resurrect him from the dead as she became more and more influenced by the red stone and just the atmosphere of the island itself (it doesn't help that Samantha seems so supportive of her too...until the mad doctor realized that Katie was more focused on resurrecting Phillip than on her own Thomas, the one who clearly deserved it more)

Okay forgive me if I was just late to this party...

But okay... you know how Howard and Phillip's names are a reference to H.P Lovecraft, right? Howard Phillip Lovecraft?

Well, I have just now realized that Howard's full name alone could have been the reference all by itself: Howard Plunkett. HP. H.P. Lovecraft.

... now I wish Phillip and Angelique's names were a reference to Seuss and Wells through their initials, too (TG / HG or HW) to bring the references and inspirations together...

Also, and unfortunately yes, I do have to reiterate this because there are impressionable people in this fandom: Please DO NOT use me or what happened to me as an excuse to harass anyone. Not Dork, Not Aquillis, not anyone who positively interacted with the slander posts (I promise you a good portion of them probably had no idea what was actually happening), not anyone who was talking shit in the TIODM community...

NO. ONE.

I do not need nor want others to defend me (although shout out to @auraofastarvedkitten for being the one person to do it on Aquillis's post, even though they already had their own grievances with that post beyond who the target was anyways) and I most certainly don't condone attacking anyone using my name as an excuse. I do not want Aquillis or Dork or anyone else to be "cancelled" or "run out of the fandom" over this. Because they deserve to be here too, even if they messed up in some way.
