who would you do? marcus or ardan?
While Ardan is definitely hotter, I think that I have to go with Marcus. I am the kind of girl who wants to be the only one - you know?
âďźHang on. Being the only one with Marcus? As in, Marcus McLaggen? As in, the modern day incarnation of Zeus? Well, wow, okay, sureďźgood luck with that. BUT ANYWAY, flattering comment and all love, and as much as I would love for us to be well-acquainted, you canât be the only one because it seems that in a sky full of stars, Iâve already found the only one or ratherďźthe only star that matters.â

It has JUST been a few broken ribs, the Captain had reasoned, as she stubbornly pushed through the rest of the game.Possibly puncturing her lung and dying? Who cares, they had a match to win, she had tried to explain. But to say Madame had been pissed that the girl had kept playing, would be an understatement. However, no one could have possibly been as pissed off as the Ravenclaw herself- her stubbornness had cost them the entire game, and left Sage sullenly staring at the curtain (As there would be âNo movement for at least 22 hours!â), back turned to where the opening was.Â
Thereâs a flutter of the curtain, and Sage wastes no time, â If youâre another Snake here to gloat, I swear to Merlin, I will hex you so fast. â
âWell, Iâm another Snake alright but Iâm not particularly in the mood to gloat at an invalid right now,â he stated, stepping in through the curtains. Ardan stood at the foot of Sageâs hospital bed, still in his Quidditch uniform and with his arms crossed. He narrowed his eyes, looking at the fragile girl before her. âIâm going to fucking kill Eli for this.â
Was she angry? Yes. Was she picturing that the punching bag was a certain slytherin? Yes. Rosemary swung her right leg up to hit the bag. This was the only way she could think of that would make herself feel better, except drinking and she couldnât participate in that activity today because she had qudditch practice. Rosemary shouldnât have been this angry or upset. They werenât together he could do whatever he wanted with whoever he wanted.
Ardan was still miffed from what happened two nights ago. His thoughts were always rampant, heart steadily aching at remembering how Ramy just left him there. Leaving him to wallow in the Tower as the feel of her lips lingered, as her taste lingered. He sighed, shaking his head to stop his train of thought but always failing to do so. He knew for a fact that Ramy would act as if nothing had happened between themâlike she always did. Well, like they always did. Thatâs what they didâavoid and ignore talks that pertained to talking about feelings. But still, despite the slight awkwardness that would be present, Ardan needed to see her and she was proving difficult to finds. He searched everywhere, wondering where the hell she might be. He needed to see her because he missed her, despite just being apart for two days. It was weird and clingy-ish but he didâthe event that transpired at the Astronomy Tower, didnât dampen those feelings. It only made him long for her more.
He sighed, giving up and deciding that he should just head down for dinner and wait for her at the Great Hall instead. Ardan was about to go on his way when he heard frustrated grunts as he passed by the schoolâs gym. Curiosity getting the best of him, he took a peek inside and he finally gave a sigh of relief. âRamy,â he called softly, stepping inside. âIâve been looking everywhere for you,â he started, watching as she punched the bag with such force. âMerlin! What the bloody hell did the bag ever do to you?â
Zach was still getting used to being called âcapâ. It was weird having any type of authority, really. He smiled at Ardan and gave him a double thumbs up before nudging him right back. He honestly wouldnât mind cuddling him like a koala right now, because really, Zach found a lot of comfort in Ardan. So, yeah, this was nice. He felt strangely safe with such a familiar person. And after earlier today, this was perfect, exactly what he needed. âOh, shut up.â Zach laughed. âBut thank you. Iâve never been so stressed about something, honestly, but, yeah. Iâm kind of amazed and yet⌠kind of not. But thanks. You know.â He smiled appreciatively at Ardan and sighed contently. His eye slit up at the shot glass handed to him. âOoh, thank youâwait a toast? Shut up, shut up, youâre not serious?â And even his full name. It was a big deal when Ardan was that sappy. âAre already sloshed?â Zach asked as he shook his head at his best friend, smiling from ear to ear. âOkay, fine, fine, letâs hear it if youâve got to say somethinâ.â
âJust a little,â he shrugged, a grin on his lips as he set his hand down for a minute, finger running over the rim of his glass. âBut Iâm not sure how this things work actually,â he started, receiving a small chorus of amused chuckles. He cleared his throat as he opened his mouth once more. âWell, uh, I think congratulations to you is in order for you know, leading the team to victory and all,â he stated, receiving a few small claps and affirmation from the crowd. âI still canât believe the strung-out mess before the game was the same person flying out and barking orders around the pitch,â he chuckled, some of their teammates chuckling in agreement as well. âBut I mean, I never really doubted you in any way. You know that right? Like remember when you were just made captain and how you told me instantly that you would have a hard time having control over people?â he asked, a brow raised. âYou were asking me fore advice about how to reign in control because, uh, well you know my past,â he trailed off, receiving playful boos and snickers from his housemates. âOh shut it!â he snapped, but with a grin on his face.Â
âAnyway, what Iâm trying to say is, you could handle yourself pretty well. The moment you stepped out there with your broom in hand, you had us all ready to take orders from you. Zach, you might not have realized it but youâre good with control. Like, I mean for instance, how you have control over me,â he stated, flushing instantly at realizing how that mustâve sounded. The room erupted with laughter and he could've sworn he heard Fifi yelling, âI knew it! Someone owes me 10 galleons!â from across the room. He let them laugh it off a bit before continuing. âFuck. That sounded better in my head,â he muttered, as he looked at Zach. Ardan was pretty much used to attentionďźwhat he wasnât used to was being sappy in front of this much people. But with the alcohol in his system, he was indecisive enough to even bring up the idea of a toast and after a mere few words, he was already having making a fool of himself. What a fun time.
She was calm and he was wild. Odette was the calm before the storm that was Ardan. How did they end up here? How did they end up going through years upon years of love and turmoil in a matter of months? They had hated each other, liked each other, loved each other and fallen out of each others existence like nothing had ever occurred. If it wasnât for the constant pain pulsing through her soul, Odette would have thought that it had never had happened at all. The pain was always a reminder.Â
She remembered the day Ardan had approached her with the intentions of apologising and making up for all the times he had called her names and generally plagued her existence with his presence. It took him three weeks for him to convince her that it wasnât some joke he was in on with his other Slytherin friends that liked to torment her in her younger years at Hogwarts. When Ardan started making things up to Odette, she has very quickly realised that despite how different they were, they actually had quite a lot in common and shared a lot of the same interests. Literature was their go to subject of conversation when he would help her carry her stacks of books back to Ravenclaw Tower. They would compare their favourite books and usually end up in an argument about which book was an authors best work, it was something they done more than they would probably have cared to admit. Somewhere along that timeline, Odette had began to look forward to discussing what literature they had went through that week. She had began to look forward to seeing him in general. Their meetings becoming more frequent and their friendship forming strongly at the roots. She had began to feel nervous around him and with that had developed the habit of constantly tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear; a habit that has wormed its way into her head still to this day. Her heart raced when he was around, the blood rushed to her head and she mentally kicked herself for she had fallen in love with none other than Ardan Carrow.
âYou were never an idiotâ she mused âEven in all your spontaneous ideas, you were never thatâ Odette laughed at his statement âThat is an understatement.â he was a colossal ass when he was sick but she must admit she was impressed with how creative his long string of curse words could be during that time. âBut I would never have left you to feel sorry for yourself all bundled up like a human burritoâ she shrugged with a smile. Odette had figured out very swiftly that Ardan didnât like potions from the hospital wing and would go to great lengths to avoid them, this had resulted in a lot of scolding and a disgruntled boyfriend then drinking said potion. She remembered how she would run her fingers through his hair as she pressed a kiss to his forehead as a thank you for giving in and taking the medicine.Â
There was a lot of history standing between them, they couldnât deny it but they didnât exactly want to admit it either. Admitting it meant coming to terms with a lot of things. It meant admitting that those times that held so many amazing memories for them also had a rough ending. It meant admitting that they werenât in the same place as they were before. It meant admitting that all the plans they had set for the rest of their lives were now but distant dreams. Maybe it was how they ended things. Maybe it was how they wiped each other from their lives like the other wasnât there in the first place. Then again, maybe thatâs why she found it so hard to shift him from everything like sounds of the piano keys or certain spots in the castle. Maybe this was her karma for causing them both such pain and anguish.Â
"Itâs a calming scent regardless of meâ she sighed, suddenly very aware of her lavender scent. Odette never knew what Ardan had seen in her, how he would notice little pieces of her personality and style traits that she wasnât even aware she had. She nodded and tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear âI understand though, some aspects of you arenât easy to forget eitherâ she admitted.Â
Odette smiled as she took the books from him âIt was good seeing you too and thank you for helping me with my books. I really do appreciate itâ she smiled warmly. The awkwardness of it all had began to show itself again. She shifted the books in her arms and heard the knocker start to ask the riddle for her to answer to enter the common room. Odette had turned to answer the riddle but her attention was pulled back by hearing Ardanâs voice again âSureâ she said, her smile gracing her face once again. âIâd like thatâ
Their relationship was the perfect clichĂŠ. How Ardan had bullied her until her breaking point but finally seeing her tear-stained cheeks made him want to wish he could turn back time to undo all the damages. How he chased after her, spewing apology after apology, trying to make her believe and hear the sincerity in his words, in his tone. While in the midst of it all, how he slowly and undeniably fell in love with her.
ďźand it all started with how he found himself wanting to see that patronizing smile of hers, light up her face.
âRegardless of you perhaps but I found myself liking it because of you,â he shrugged, suddenly aware of the lingering scent of lavender in the air. âIt gives me a sense of calm, a sense of homeďźa home that I could never go home to but only to visit in my dreams.â He bit his tongue. What was he doing? What was he saying? He wasnât supposed to be saying all of those things! Ardan knew he should choose his words carefully but now that she was here, the words just kept tumbling out. Also, asking to see her again? What did he want to accomplish with that? He sighed, running a hand through his hair once more as he realized how flustered he was.
Ardan never felt the awkwardness seeping in or the words she mumbles as she smiled warmly at him, triggering a string of memories. Ardan found himself stuck in a trance, mesmerized by her smile, as the past resurfaced on his mind.
If his calculations were correct, Ardan had bullied Odette for almost half of his educational years at Hogwarts. He took delight in the way he made her squirm like how he did back at home. It was cruel of him to make her feel the pain heâs been through when they clearly led different lives, BUT that was what seemed to fuel his actions. How they were alike, cast as being in a family of dark wizards and yet she got the easy life. Tormenting her seemed like it was a way of release for him. He was never really sure why he sought her out among the rest. Of course, Odette was favored by a lot of Slytherin bullies for a number of reasons. Yet Ardan seemed to take it further, gunning her down for even the pettiest of reasons. He was determined to break her, reduce her into a puddle of tearsďźbut all he got was a patronizing smile from her as she refused to cry in front of him.
ďźher refusal infuriated him, fueled by that patronizing smile of hers.
On his sixth year, Rosemary wasnât always with him because she was currently dating that prat, Marcus. So he stayed away, not wanting to give into the temptation of punching the living daylights out of the pompous arsehole at every chance he got. For surely, that wouldâve upset his best friend greatly. But he never realized how the thought of punching him was because of jealousy and the thought or Ramy defending him was just fueling it even more. When Ramy was apart from him, thatâs when his moodiness went into full swingďźlashing out at people when no one was pulling him back. Zachariah was busy, Ramy was too. Â So hey, why not have a little fun? Odette had the most fun during those months. Every sneer and every rude comment was thrown at her. Yet, she still gave him that infuriatingly patronizing smile of her.
ďźhe never understood how she could stand him, giving him a patronizing smile instead of her tears.
Ardan knew he was going too far, making a big deal out of the little things about her. Using them as bullets he could fire at her. But he just couldnât stop, he was driven by the fact that he wanted to see her break down and cryďźtelling him and begging him to stop. Because way back whenďźhe was just an innocent child who got thrust into the harsh reality of life. He wanted someone to feel that, feel how he slowly fell to his knees at such an early age.
ďźthat plan backfired, seeing as he was the one falling into his knees, begging for forgiveness.
One late afternoon in one of the many corridors the castle had, she screamed. He could still feel how it seemed to pierce through his very soul, a soul he never knew existed. Thatâs when he saw itďźthe first drop hitting the stone floor, quickly followed by more and more. Then her sobs echoed out, bouncing off the walls around them. It was what heâs been wanting but not the feeling and reaction heâs been expecting to have. Ardan tried to approach her with his instincts of comfort kicking in but she screamed at himďźhands shielding herself. He broke her so much,Merlin he did, and he felt himself break with her as he saw himself in herďźmerely a child wanting the torment to stop.
ďźand all he wanted at that very moment, was to see that patronizing smile back on her face.
Odetteâs soft nudging broke him out of reverie. He blinked furiously, trying to ignore the stinging of his eyes. Looking straight at her, Ardan gave her a small smile of relief as her reply finally registered.
âThank you Oddity,â he all but whispered, taking a small step and leaning down a bit towards her. Ardan couldnât help but unconsciously tuck a stray hair behind her ear, and old habit of his as he gave her one last smile, and walked awayďźhis heart thundering against his chest with joy.
The expression of thanks was sincere on his part. He took it as a sign, as another chance for the both of them. There was just so much standing between them, so much history that needed to be sorted through for them to feel alright again. They may never go back to being the lovers they once were, but to be friends again was enough. He wanted that back or anything about her back because Ardan knew, no matter what happened, she would always feel like home.

â That could change at any moment. â is her reply, standard raised eyebrow and all. â Girlâs ALWAYS know. â she points out ( like HELL would she ever reveal she could tell just by the feel of his hands- talk about embarrassing. ) âThat should be common knowledge at this point. â
âWell, are you ready or even willing to change it at any moment?â he asked, obviously amused. Ardan couldnât help but chuckle at her following statement. He placed his hands on the girlâs waist, looking down at her. âAt this point, yes.â
â I like talkin to myself. I give even more intelligent answers than half of people I know would.â he replied without an exact facial expression. â Well, there are two that have great chances. Not going to name them of course.Shouldnât you get preapered?â
âSounds lonesome,â he commented. âBut well, I think I understand since I do it myself too,â he chuckled. âOf course, of course. Yeah, I should but it seems some of my team mates are running late.â
Alice followed suit and rolled their eyes, chewing onto the popcorn as he continued on staring into the blank - but, when he statated a cheesy setentence, they laughed once again - shaking their head quickly. â Nice one. If itâs your way of asking for more popcorn, do not worry. You can have the whole bag.â
âHonestly Allie, youâre no fun sometimes,â he chuckled, chucking more popcorn into his mouth. âSo, what you been up to since the last time I saw you?â More like since the last time heâs kissed her.
âMinxâwhat, Priya? AhâŚâ Zach grinned, nodding surely. âYeah, yeah, this was definitely her.â He looked over at Ardan, sighing a little appreciatively that he was here for another reason entirely, but also, he just didnât want to burden him. So he laughed a little and nodded in agreement. âYeah, yeah, youâre taller, though, you do it. Should maybe give it back to her, yeah?â
âIâm assuming Marcus helped her hang this up. Iyaâs too short and that pratâs always with her when it comes to Quidditch pranks like this,â he muttered, looking at the poster once more before grabbing it and taking it down. âCan I ball this up and chuck it at McLaggen instead?â he asked with a grin, waving it a bit as he looked back at Zach. Ardanâs grin faltered as he noticed something different. âYou alright mate? Pre-game jitters getting to you?â
Ď claud-9:
Claudios sighed at how insistent Ardan was being. It was werid because he never really was interested in his past exâs and one night stands. They would talk about those girls and soon get bored at the thought of them. But then again, this girl made Claud feel different and maybe thatâs why he was getting a different reaction from Ardan.
âYeah, I guess,â Claudious leaned back against the tree they were sitting on, thinking over the words real deal. âBut câmon man,â he started, âWeâre like.. eighteen. You never know what might happen,â the smile slowly disappeared from his face as he remembered their previous topic, Ardanâs cancelled engagement.
âLike you andâ you know,,â he started, trying not to mention the girlâs name, âYou were engaged, engaged man, and now youâre practically strangers to each other.â
Ardan sneaked a look at the boy next to him, an amused smirk on his eyes for this was really starting to amuse himďźin a surprised kind of way. Claud never really showed that much interest to any of his partner-but it seems, this new transfer student was keeping him on his toes. "Well, true. There's more out there for blokes like us," he agreed before flinching a bit at what Claud said next. "Uh, yeah. Never even believed I could be capable of being that serious," he muttered before sighing. Ardan looked at his friend, making up his mind that it was finally time to talk about it. "Where do you want me to start?"

Zach smiled bitterly, and really, he knew this wasnât Ardanâs fault. But, like, maybe something in the back of his mind that was a little petty still held onto a grudge, even if it was the tiniest grasp. âIt was written⌠in my wand box. That weâre not worthy of it, okay?â He glanced at the hand on his shoulder and sort of appreciated the gesture. Ardan really did grow a lot. Zach often wondered how in the world he befriended him when they were way, way younger, because holy shit was Ardan a dick. Zach only rolled his eyes. âItâs not your fault, Ardan. Honestly, I shouldnât have even been ashamed to lie about who I was in the first place, but it was really easy to do. And I wanted a nice life here. It was selfish of me. Itâs not your fault. This just⌠happened. Some git just broke my wand. This stuff always happens even still every now and then but⌠itâs not gonna stop for me, okay?â Zach pressed his lips together and shrugged. âIâll be fifty and Iâll still be getting shit about my blood status. Sânothing new, okay?â
Ardan stayed quiet, trying to let himself agree with what he was hearing. But the guilt heâs learned to push back was stretching across his chest again, making it known that it never left. âZach, itâs my fault. If I havenât lashed out and told everyoneďźâ he sighed, thinking back on his younger years at how he made Zachariah Milkovich the center of torment by the entire Slytherin purist and bullying population. They were 1st years when they became the best of friends. But a rift formed between them on their 4th year, when Ardan felt betrayed by him.  Ardan was thoroughly bigoted and blind. It was pathetic how he threw everything out the window when he found out about Zachâs blood status. It wounded him, knowing that Zach knew about his beliefs and Ardan felt like he played him. It was an immature and irrational point in their relationship. When they made up a few weeks later, their friendship became stronger than ever with Ardan realizing a lot of things. Thatâs when he made a promise to not treat anyone as suchďźfearing he might loose Zach again. Ardan clenched his jaw. âIâm going to find whoever did this to you and Iâm going to make them pay. I donât give a shit if my family finds out about how Iâm defending you, but no one is ever allowed to do that to you, okay? Not while Iâm here.â
âListen,â Zach said, pausing and letting the silence fill the air between them. âDo you hear that?â He asked, smiling. âThatâs the sound of angels sighing with relief because you stopped talking about how incredible you are for one second. On another note, every time you conceitedly say something about yourself that isnât even really true, a dog cries.â But he smiled brightly in knowing that Ardan would quit with his egotistical bullshitâ˘Â for the night. It was very tiring to decrease Ardanâs ego on the daily, but Zach was very passionate about his best mate duties in doing so. It was actually one of his favorite hobbies.
âOf course Iâm right.â Zach scoffed. âIâm always right. Smartest Slytherin, probably, and one of the top in our year. If you remember, I was maybe the longest hat stall ever when we got sorted because I was this close,â he lifted his index finger and thumb up in front of Ardanâs face, showing the distance between them at the pads to be about a centimeter apart. âto being sorted in Ravenclaw.â Zach chuckled, because wow was that extra of him but hey, it was true. And now that Ardan wasnât going to be conceited anymore, it was Zachâs turn to turn his nose up. Zach smiled sincerely, though, and shrugged. âI donât know. Youâd be⌠a bigger dick than you are? If you didnât have me, I mean.â He beamed at Ardan and positively gushed. âAwww, look everyone!â Zach loudly whispered to the paintings around. âArdan has a heart, oh he went to Oz and asked the Wizard for a heart. Arenât we just proud?â He asked, grinning, and some of the paintings even laughed. Zach laughed into the back of his hand and shook his head. âI love this part, I love making a big deal of it all.â
Ardan rolled his eyes. "On a side noteďźit's not like angels paid attention to me anyway," he muttered as they stepped unto the landing. "Also on another side note, thank you for realizing how incredible I am," he chuckled. "Besides, I know for certain that you most certainly enjoy knocking your fellow Slytherin prince off his high-chair," he added, pulling his robe around him tighter as the cold tried to break through the warm barrier.
"Just not a probability but itâs trueďźyou're one of the top students in our year and just a little higher above me," he grinned. "Merlin, I know Zachariah. I was there, waiting patiently from the Slytherin table before moving next to you and asking to be your friend," he chuckled, shoving his friend's hand away from his face. "I'm more than just that if I didn't have youďźjust saying," he shrugged. Well, it was true. If Zach wasn't around, and with Ramy being in another houseďźArdan would've been a bigger asshole than that prat Marcus. Hearing the portraits laugh, Ardan shot a glare to each oneďźonly to be rewarded with more laughter from them. He groaned. "Whatever," he mumbled, sending one last glare before turning to look at Zach. "Well, you always love making a big deal out of it. When have you not?" They were out in the main hall now, looking around for any sign of Filch as he rubbed his hands  together to keep them warm.
