Zachâs confidence in sorting everything out with Sage and her gift-giving only softened. âThatâs sweet of you.â He said, because it was. Zach didnât know what the deal was with Eli and Sageâheâd thought they were friends, so he didnât see it as such a big deal. âAnd frankly impressive. Yay to making your own wand holster.â And he meant it because he probably, sadly wouldnât be able to do so himself. Zachâs eyes widened a little and he smiledâay! Sage has a heart! And sees Eli as her best friend! That made him happy, but then she turned around and headed off. Zachâs eyebrows furrowed in confusion and he cleared his throat, crossed his arms, and sighed. âYouâre wrong, Sage. Youâre very, very, very wrong.â Zach said, loud enough for her to hear. Of course he wasâif she felt that way, then of course he was, but why she had to run from that was beyond Zach, and if Zach had to snake his way back into the topic, then he was gonna.Â
âStop right there.â her gaze is stony- she doesnât need anyone knowing that she can be...sweet and kind and a good friend. There was a R E A S O N she hadnât signed her name on any of the packages she sent- there was a sense of deniability, though those three whom she sent the gifts to would know SHOULD know. Eli was her best friend, her brother. He would have known, even if she HADNâT signed her initial at the end of the note- Merlin, why was she so bloody stupid? Her pace is quick as she walks away from Zach: Tamara Sage didnât DO feelings, okay? Feelings led to heartbreak and hurt, and that was the reason she wasnât a god forsaken Gryffindor, because she was w e a k and couldnât DEAL with getting her heart broken every time someone decided to leave.Â
â What are you on about, Evergreen?â she sighs, turning around to face him, though every fiber of her being is screaming to leave NOW before itâs too late.Â
