There was no easy way to put this. Claire was a werewolf. There was no way to make this easier to explain. No way to spin it so she didn’t seem like a monster, because that’s what she was. She sighed, feeling like her head was gonna split open. The feeling of her hand’s soothing hand on her back doing a little to help, but not much. Could she really tell him? Tell him that while she was hunting she turned into a werewolf, and if she didn’t lock herself up in chains she could tear him limb from limb?
Claire scoffed at his comment. If only it were that simple. A glass of water and some pain killers would never be enough to cure this. The fever burned hotter and she shook her head. ❝Sadly Tylenol doesn’t cure being a werewolf.❞ She broke from his touch, though she hated doing it, wanting to be in the safe arms of her dad and went for her duffle bag. She grabbed a canvas bag that held various things laced in Wolfsbane and tossed them to him. ❝Put on one of those chains. It’ll keep me away from you, for a little bit.❞
Jimmy nodded, not entirely comprehending the words she just spoke. When they registered, Jimmy’s eyes widened, focused on Claire. “A what?” he asked, though he had heard her... hopefully wrongly... say werewolf quite clearly. Catching the chains, he looked them over and looked back at Claire. “A werewolf? Wh-why do I need the chains? I don’t understand? How will it keep you away?”
Shaking his head, he looked at the chains once more. “What the hell is going on, Claire? Are you being serious right now?” Jimmy knew there were monsters in the form of demons and angels, but werewolves? Weren’t those only in campy horror films? Panic started to set in as he started thinking, maybe the fever was making her go a little crazy? He could only hope so.
