The secret of attraction is to love yourself. Attractive people judge neither themselves nor others. They are open to gestures of love. They think about love, and express their love in every action. They know that love is not a mere sentiment, but the ultimate truth at the heart of the universe. Deepak Chopra

I want to remember how the sun beams down on my skin, and how I can feel so lost in its touch. As the day turns, it's caress nestles down my shoulder to my elbow, meandering toward my thigh, until the sun sits perfectly still with me during my afternoon thoughts.

I climb the tree to see the world.
I sat in the sun. I dread to grow weary of a dashing sight, but stimulation of my mind is more often in words, sensations, hot cups of coffee. I long to be lost in a book, a persons eyes, a thought—

Today, I want to remember that I have something to work for, something to live for; I have a larger purpose and I am thinking critically about it.

21 May 2016 I listened to Professor Susan Nolen-Hoeksema describes how modern clinical psychology both identifies and treats various mental disorders. Particular focus is placed upon mood disorders such as bipolar disorder and depression, including current diagnostic criteria and current practices for treatment. Dr. Nolen-Hoeksema wrote several books about her research for general readers, including “Women Who Think Too Much: How to Break Free of Overthinking and Reclaim Your Life.” These books described why rumination could be so corrosive — it is deeply distracting; it tends to highlight negative memories — and how such thoughts could be alleviated. Dr. Nolen-Hoeksema moved smoothly between academic work and articles and books for the general reader. “I think part of what allowed her to move so easily between those two worlds was that she was an extremely clear thinker, and an extremely clear writer,” said Marcia K. Johnson, a psychology professor and colleague at Yale. Dr. Nolen-Hoeksema lived in Bethany, Conn. In addition to her husband, a science writer, she is survived by a son, Michael; her brothers, Jeff and Steve; and her father, John. “Over the past four decades women have experienced unprecedented growth in independence and opportunities,” Dr. Nolen-Hoeksema wrote in 2003, adding, “We have many reasons to be happy and confident.” “Yet when there is any pause in our daily activities,” she continued, “many of us are flooded with worries, thoughts and emotions that swirl out of control, sucking our emotions and energy down, down, down. We are suffering from an epidemic of overthinking.”
