Global Galavanting

You all should be able to gather where I have been since I last did a text post. A photo says a thousand words. But in case you haven't been watching, a quick recap... 

From Rio we took a short flight down the coast to the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. This is like no city I have experienced. It is HUGE. To large to even try to get around it. We mainly just hung out in the Vila Madalena district in which we were staying. It has quite a cool urban street art scene. 

We went on a tour of the district while there to the main alley ways that had been painted. Thanks to the Conexão Cultural team for showing us around. 

From Sao Paulo we took a 15hr overnight bus to Argentina's border town of Puerto Iguazu. The town's main attraction is the famous Iguazu Falls, an amazing network of dozens of waterfalls. The largest of which is the 80m high "Devils Throat". An awe inspiring natural wonder. 

After we had seen enough water pumping over a cliff we took another overnight bus down to Buenos Aires and then a quick ferry across the Rio Del Plata to Uruguays town of Colonia.

A cool old little town, really quiet, and very pretty. Lovely tree lined streets and old buildings. Reminds me of Ponsonby in a way. Some cool old cars around the place too.

From Colonia we have gone down the coast to the Uruguay capital Montevideo.

Quite moving to know that almost 73 years ago my grandfather was out in the River Plate aboard the HMS Archilles as it fought the Graf Spee in the famous WWII Naval battle. The Graff Spee eventually scuttled itself just outside the harbour of Montevideo. 

So after we have spent a few days in what looks to be a foggy Montevideo, we will head over to Buenos Aires for the weekend before we fly down to Patagonia to El Calafate and El Chalten for a week,
