I don't doubt that Little Jane can influence Big Jane a lot, but I wish he was capable of seeing that there must be something more behind all of this.
I get now why the title of the series is "Don't be too emotional". Little Jane is pretty emotional (and who can blame him?), but perhaps if he wasn't so caught in this emotional turmoil, he could analyze Big Jane's answer.
Why can't he stop now? Why did he go too far to quit? He is always getting hurt and making a lot of enemies. It can't be just for the trill of making contract with people and punish them if they don't follow it. I don't buy it.
I'm so glad Jane said this to P'Jane. Does the show instantly and fully forgive him? Yes. But at least Jane got to say it. At least he acknowledged it was wrong and that it was forced and that he didn't keep his promise and that love doesn't make up for that.
As glad as I am that he apologized... still rough. Still oof. Jane really is just very accepting of everything that keeps happening to him.
Sometimes I wonder if being older in a fandom is a curse.
Because I've already seen comments trying to excuse Big Jane's attempted rape of Little Jane. The comment that scares me the most is "He stopped because be truly loves him!"
JFC absolutely goddamn not?? I love this show. I'm having the best time leaning into the toxicity. I'm still actively rooting for Big Jane's black flag ass. But to try and attribute any kind of positive spin to that specific moment is a different level of delusion.
Big Jane stopped when he saw no physical evidence that Little Jane was enjoying it. He doesn't get a medal for that!
I saw someone on here theorize that BJ believes he can make their physical attraction work in his favor and LJ at least enjoys that, and maybe this is a really good theory that explains why he stopped.
I've read plenty of CNC and dubcon, and what Big Jane did wasn't that. At all. He was full monster in that moment.
And it becomes yet again another manipulation tactic. Big Jane apologized and now he gets to say, "hey remember when I could have violated you but didn't?" Not that he would, we still kind of need them together at the end, but it's wild people don't see it.
