Silly Poggers Dump

So interesting story here. In the 80s, it was a lot more common to have movies with kids cussin’ and swearin’ - Stand By Me, Monster Squad, Goonies, Adventures in Babysitting, etc. - stuff that seems a little shocking by today’s standards.

In the early, earliest days of MCSM way back in, like, Christmas-time 2014, there were some folks at TTG who wanted to capture the feeling of those specific “80s adventure movies for kids” complete with the cussin’ and swearin’ so there were a couple early drafts of episode 1 where the characters were… shall we say a lot more crass? Our rating on season 1 was E12 where the language restrictions are a little looser so some folks wanted to really push the limits with that…

Anyway, it was a big debate over the course of the Witherstorm story arc how much bad language was okay, what was considered “acceptable”… and then when I started taking on more of a leadership role with the portal hallway arc and gave the whole series a little bit of a tonal reboot I decided to institute the “no swearing” rule. I toned down the language so much, in fact, that season 2 is actually E7 instead of the prior E12, heh.

I have a lot of people on the team who give me a hard time for being a little prude about the language (especially because in real life I, uh, definitely swear it up with the best of ‘em), but I know that it’s something that a lot of parents take very seriously. (Goodness knows my parents sure did.)
