“  did  you  say  hello  ?  ”  chocolate  hues  fixated  on  her  watercolor  book  ,  trying  to  capture  the  exact  hue  of  aegean  blue  .  finally  ,  she  looked  up  at  the  other  through  her  sunglasses  .   “  —  to  the  sea  ,  ”  pointing  at  the  crystalline  water  using  the  tip  of  her  brush  .  “  my  server  insisted  to  always  greet  the  sea  .  there's  an  etiquette  to  the  ocean  here  .  greeting  it  is  apparently  the  first  rule  .   she  remembers  those  who  dont  ...  ”  she  said  with  a  shrug  .  now  ,  luiza  wasn't  supersitious  but   there  was  something  about  old  customs  ,  especially  the  ones  that  had  survived  centuries  ,  that  she  found  difficult  to  dismiss  entirely  . 

hand   shoots   up   in   a   brief   wave   towards   the   ocean   horizon   ,   cheeks   warm   with   a   sort   of   spotlight   that   comes   with   public   displays   .   “   i   like   to   think   the   ocean   and   i   are   plenty   familiar   with   each   other   — ”   pause   ,   “   but   you're   right   .   my   yaya   says   something   similar   ,   ”   if   not   verbatim   .   curious   hues   glance   over   at   the   swirls   of   watercolor   on   paper   ,   “   trying   to   capture   the   moment   ?   ”

glittering   waters   taunt   the   swimmer   ,   flecks   of   sunlight   dancing   on   the   surface   .   arms   cross   over   his   chest   ,   head   tilt   towards   the   siren   .   “   that's   not   what   i'm   concerned   about   ,   ”   he   calls   back   ,   quiet   at   first   ,   voice   building   .   one   glance   over   his   shoulder   ,   back   to   where   his   other   half   should   be   .   yes   the   ocean   calls   like   a   familiar   friend   .   sandals   kick   off   without   a   care   ,   button   up   discarded   without   another   thought   .   ‘   fuck   it   ,   ’   muttered   under   the   breath   .   pace   quickens   as   steps   meet   the   shoreline   .   “   christ   ,   this   feels   so   nice   ,   ”   he   announces   to   no   one   in   particular   ,   head   dunking   underneath   salt   water   .   he   looks   towards   the   instigator   ,   half   a   smile   quirked   .   “   you   come   here   often   ?   ”
