With the holidays coming up, it felt weird not to be in the kitchen. Akilah had spent a lot of time cooking with her mom on Thanksgiving, and there was no reason she couldn’t keep that tradition going. Soft Christmas music played in the background as she cooked. A delicious smell of turkey and bread rose from the oven. Someone entered the kitchen and Akilah looked up, breaking into a smile. “It’s not done yet, but you’re welcome to help.”
