april had panicked when she found her camera knocked out of her hand and sent flying into the crack in the street that led to the sewer. it wasn't long before she went for it though , climbing down the ladder into the sewer with no care that it was dirty and what not. she landed on the ground with a small thump , eyes scanning for the camera that held some of her most important things. " Ah -- there you are. " a small smile came on her face as she jogged over to snatch it up in her hands and immediately begin to search it for damage , flipping open the screen. however she froze in her place when she saw what was on it. her orbs flickered up from the camera to meet a rat that was way to big to be real. her mouth sat slightly opened in shock , not moving as her brain processed this. " ... Oh my god. "
This was his case and there was nothing that was going to take it away from him. It was his first out of the crime lab and he wanted to embrace this moment with all his power and knowledge. So, staying later than intended was something he hadn’t planned on till know. And if he would have known it was going to rain, he would have left with everyone else. And then the rustling of the gate caught his attention and drew him more to the fact of just staying

april's head turned almost immediately to meet the figure the voice had come from. oh no -- she was not going to leave that quickly. but maybe... maybe she could turn this around to work out for her. if this man worked here.. slowly , april made way down the fence and landed on her feet with ease , bringing a hand up to run it through her dark hair. " Sorry -- I was just trying to get my phone back. My friend threw it over the fence. Could you help me by chance? "

"April Are you sure wee should be here?" Vern asked nervously. He didn’t know why h followed the girl but he wanted to make sure she was safe. Right now they were hiding from two armed criminals hat are about to break into the New York City Bank. "April this is a bad idea, you don’t need to do this to prove anything" he whispered.
April was peaking over the edge of a box to try and catch a glimpse of what was going on before she heard Vern and turned her head to let her eyes fall on him. " Vern -- This isn't about proving anything. It's about news. This is news. " She said and glanced back to check on the criminals and make sure they were still there before she looked back to Vern. " Please don't bail on me now Vern. " She whispered.
"It might help if you turn the AC down."
"Just a thought."
Leonardo crouched in the window, awkwardly forcing his large frame to stay within the confines of the rectangle. He raised a brow and smiled smugly at his friend. April looked kind of hilarious bundled up like she was. It was hot as hell outside. Perfect for the coldblooded mutant reptile.
April turned her head in an awkward position to let her orbs meet with the figure of the turtle. A small breathy laugh left her lips and she shook her head. " No way -- then it will be too hot. You know you can come in instead of trying to squeeze in the window frame. " She sniffled alittle as she adjusted herself so she was on her side rather than her back.

raphael was well aware of his father’s intentions. they had been explained to him over and over again; only recently the rules were fleshed out a bit more, but that didn’t mean raph hadn’t been aware of the truth — at least a little bit.
he did, however, elect to ignore the ‘getting hurt’ part.

" april however couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at raphael's words. although he did have a point. it wouldnt hurt to learn how to defend herself in some way. especially if she wasn't going anywhere. april lay on the sofa , covered in several blankets. some were thin , some were thick. but she was still cold and the tv her eyes were on , was not distracting her one bit. tugging the blankets closer around her , tighter around her , she found herself shivering again. it was summer , yes , but it was a cold night and she seemed to be ever so sensitive to the temperature. " It's flippin' f r e e z i n g in here. "

april can't help but stare in shock. shes seen alot of things at this point but this -- this was new. six foot tall talking turtles is one thing. this is another. she swore silently in her head she would not faint though. not this time. this -- her? -- was most likely not from earth though. slowly she brought her hand up and pressed the button to take a picture , the bright flash lasting a mere second. this could be her new story. she only prayed whatever was infront of her wasn't dangerous and that she would live to tell the story.

if it wasn't bad enough that april was trespassing -- she wasn't going to stop there. there was a story on the other side of the fence that would make her known and she just had to get closer to snap a few photos and get a hint of what was going on. however -- april was struggling to get over the fence with it raining and her shoes slipping against the metal. with each attempt she got alittle more fustrated until she was cursing silently. she was too focused on trying to get over the fence she wasn't even paying attention to if anyone was around as she did so.

april was unable to get down from where she currently was. originally she had used a stool to get up , but of course that had to tip over and leave her hanging. literally. there wasn't enough room for her to pull herself up and there was no way she was going to jump down. and of course no one was in the same room as her so she was left to call out and hope it was quiet enough for her to be heard in the next room. " Hey -- Can I get some help? I'm alittle stuck! "

"No… Its nothing like that… you look fine." Jordan was lying, her friend looked terrible but she couldn’t exactly admit that. But it was a cause of worry for Jordan, she had never seen April in a state as bad as this before. It was not healthy. "What story? Anything I can help with? You could do with getting some sleep. Come on, lets get you to a cafe and get some food down you, looks like you haven’t eaten for a week."
" You seem hesitant about that. " April pointed out , seeing right though the lie. " I don't think so -- unless you can get me some of the new drugs kids are passing around. Jordan -- this will be a huge story! If i can get ahold of some of the stuff -- " She let out a breathe , cutting herself off before she leaned in alittle to tell her friend about this in a little more secretive way. " Okay , Some kid died because of the stuff and the police think he commited suicide -- and he did but he didn't at the same time. I talked to his best friend and he said that he had been trying this new drug and it was basically driving him insane and no matter how much he begged him to stop he just wouldn't. I think the drug drove him insane -- and I think it may be doing the same to others. Not insane like insane -- but insane. I'm okay on the sleep though -- I took a nap for a few hours yesterday. I really need to finish this story though before anyone else gets ahold of it. " It was normal for April to risk anything for a good story -- but she had never done it like this. She was obviously excited about doing this story -- and maybe , just maybe , it'd get her her job back. " Oh -- Yeah. Food's good. I could go for food. I keep forgetting to eat. " She admitted.

the grunt came out muffled, thanks to a mouthful of pizza. giving her a quizzical look, and slowly chewing the bite he’d taken, raph could only shake his head.
" Wha —— no way. Mikey sneaks out fer stupid stuff : movies, food — the typa shit that don’t matter.
I go streetside, ‘nd I kick ass. It’s harder t’ cover that up without Dad noticin’. ”
raphael had no problems with sharing information. there weren’t any secrets in the lair that april didn’t already know ; you’d think that ninjas would have more to hide. he took another bite of pizza.
" Oh , nothing. " april let out a laugh and shook her head as she took another bite of her pizza , picking off some that had fallen on her shirt as she chewed and swallowed in mere seconds. " Yeah -- That sounds like Mikey. " april couldn't help but agree. although it was more now. april had no problem going to grab things for all of them. she never expected payment back or anything either so it wasn't like money was an issue. as far as april was concerned , what was hers was theirs as well. she wasn't surprised to hear what raph had been up too -- she really wasn't. though , nothing could probably surprise her at this point. " As long as you're kicking ass for the right reasons , you won't hear a word from me. Splinter just cares about you all. Doesn't want you getting hurt beyond repair -- and honestly , I don't want you to either. "
