I really shouldâve known the body builds a tolerance to caffeine, but wow⌠I didnât expect it to hit like this.
I used to feel invincible after just one cup of coffee. Like, okay! Iâm awake, letâs do this, Iâm unstoppable. Now I can down a whole energy drink and a venti iced whatever from Starbucks, and still feel like I could fall asleep mid-conversation. No buzz. No motivation. Just...vibes and heart palpitations.
Apparently, your brain literally adapts when you have caffeine dailyâit reduces the number of adenosine receptors (the ones that caffeine blocks to keep you awake). So eventually, your bodyâs just like, âlol nice tryâ and stops reacting the way it used to.
And yet... I keep drinking it. Every day. Not even for the energy at this point, just for the ritual. And okayâbecause I love the taste of energy drinks. Especially that Sour Gummy Worm one by Reign?? Absolute perfection. Like liquid nostalgia.
So here I am, three drinks deep on a random afternoon, tired as ever but too emotionally attached to quit. I donât even know if I expect it to help anymore. I just enjoy the illusion that it might.
If youâre new to caffeine, enjoy the buzz while it lasts. One day, youâll be chasing that feeling like itâs the last slice of serotonin youâll ever know.
