I really should’ve known the body builds a tolerance to caffeine, but wow… I didn’t expect it to hit like this.
I used to feel invincible after just one cup of coffee. Like, okay! I’m awake, let’s do this, I’m unstoppable. Now I can down a whole energy drink and a venti iced whatever from Starbucks, and still feel like I could fall asleep mid-conversation. No buzz. No motivation. Just...vibes and heart palpitations.
Apparently, your brain literally adapts when you have caffeine daily—it reduces the number of adenosine receptors (the ones that caffeine blocks to keep you awake). So eventually, your body’s just like, “lol nice try” and stops reacting the way it used to.
And yet... I keep drinking it. Every day. Not even for the energy at this point, just for the ritual. And okay—because I love the taste of energy drinks. Especially that Sour Gummy Worm one by Reign?? Absolute perfection. Like liquid nostalgia.
So here I am, three drinks deep on a random afternoon, tired as ever but too emotionally attached to quit. I don’t even know if I expect it to help anymore. I just enjoy the illusion that it might.
If you’re new to caffeine, enjoy the buzz while it lasts. One day, you’ll be chasing that feeling like it’s the last slice of serotonin you’ll ever know.
