So, could you give me some headcanons you have of Ling and Ed as a couple? I love them, they're so silly together. And how do you think Al would react to Ling and Ed's romance? Do you think he'd get impatient with them not realizing they like each other?

I'm glad to share some HC of them! Here:

Ling's crush on Ed was during the stomach arc, when Edward did not let him die there. Before that he was just enlightened for Ed's looks and strong personality. Was more like a whim than a genuine crush.

Ed's crush with Ling started when he saw him fought Gluttony.

They kiss during the stomach arc bc none of them wanted to die without giving his first kiss. But Ling didn't tell Edward that.

Ling fell in love with Ed during the camp trip. Ed fell in love after him.

Greed was the worst wingman ever but Ling is such a loser he thought he was a genius.

Ling is very jealous.

During the camp trip they had a lot of dates during the night bc that was the only time Greed let him have the body.

They talked a lot about travel together but both of them know that was just fantasies.

Ling thought a lot about escaping with Ed and leaving Xing and Amestris bc he was scared of the future.

Ling was the first and the last one to say "I love you"

If we are in the canon timeline I think they won't be really together, they never called each other "boyfriends" bc they knew that the relationship would last. They live their little "summer romance" without thinking about the future.

Continue with the canon timeline. Ed marries Winry and they had kids and Ling never really gets over his love for Ed. #miserableLing4ever

This is really just my more personal HC and my fav AU, I like the idea of Ling staying in Amestris with Edward and they living in Resembool with his 3 kids.

To be honest, I don't think Alphonse would like to be a cupid with them. Al and Ling didn't interact so much after the Greed thing so they don't know each other really. Like, Ling said to Al being an armor was so cool 😭😭 he didn't know a shit

My personal hc of what would be Alphonse's reaction to the whole Edling deal is that at first he might felt worried. and I find the feeling totally understandable bc that guy doesn't seem honest or truthful.

Al first though Ling was just playing around bc he is showing his silly behavior (Ling is canonically a flirting boy). Ling had this mask on and Al could see that, and as a companion there was not a big deal. Nor Al or Ed though Ling would stick around.

When Ed was out in Xerxes with Armstrong, I like to think Ling was throwing stupid comments at Alphonse as "Your pretty brother" or calling him "Brother in law" and Al was getting annoyed at that.

I don't think Ling Yao like-like Edward at that point, he just thought he is handsome and was funny to flirt with. Alphonse saw that act and hated the idea of domeone playing with his brother feelings.

Ed and Ling got closer during the Stomach arc and the camp trip, Alphonse wasn't there to see the development so when he saw Edward and Ling show some kind of affection the first time he was so confused and conflicted.

The last time he saw him he was being a dickhead and playing with his brother (not mention he literally sold his body to the enemy side) so he was genuinely surprised and sad bc Edward fell at that act. but u know, the end of the world was happening and Edward seems so happy the little moment he and Ling were together so Alphonse didn't know what to do and just waits.

After the final arc, in the hospital Alphonse finally have that moment alone with Al. Edward left the room to do something idk and Ling felt so uncomfortable bc Alphonse was staring the whole hour he was there with his "boyfriend". Ling looks at him with the intention to ask him if everything was fine.

Alphonse can be a brat just as his big bro sometimes, and in that moment he decided he was gonna be the biggest brat. He was frustrated and confused and uncomfortable so he was not nice to Ling and start saying bullshit at him and my boy was like "wowowowowow slow down, what is happening?"

Alphonse asked him after a breath what *he* was doing with his brother. So they talk, and for the first time Alphonse saw Ling without a mask. Ling talks about his brother with so many love in his eyes and Alphonse realized he was not the same stupid moron he met at Rush Valley or Central.

So Alphonse finally was really okay with Ling. But he was still worried bc at the end of the day Edward was his only brother and Ling needed to return to Xing.
