my take on 61
Getting a weird little hobby is actually so important bc it opens your eyes up to the world. You start crocheting or knitting, and how you see scarves and sweaters differently. You try identifying plants, now youāre seeing opposite and alternate leaf pattern. Bird watching? Every chirp draws attention and interest.
Get into weird little hobbies.
Please donāt let fandom ruin something you love. Walk away and unfollow the fans and enjoy the thing by yourself, or find a limited circle of people who ignore the discourse, or get your irl friends into the thing and collectively ignore the Internet community, or blacklist from here to the moon if you need to and only ever scroll through your rarepair shipās tag on AO3. But donāt let fandom distort a show or a movie or a book or a comic you used to love so badly that you canāt enjoy the original anymore. Please. It isnāt worth it.
The best recent fandom Iāve been in lately has been a discord group of less than a dozen people. My bff and I send fanfics and fanart just to each other and weāve been having so much fun, just like how fandom used to be. And it sucks that I had to go paywall, but things got a LOT better once I started posting fandom-only art to my patreon. You find ways to make it work.

hell's chicken. proof that these sinners would make the most entertaining and concerning cooking show participants. i love how the general reception to don eating raw chicken was just "Don ate raw chicken. Yeah she would do that" and absolutely nothing else. which. i understand. hell's chicken was so insane there were just so many things to dissect. I miss hell's chicken
HOWEVER. don did not just eat raw chicken. as the most sane don quixote limbus company fan out there, i have dissected the bongy log and am now bringing some terrifying discoveries.
(tiny cartoon blood warning at some point)

Each of the sinners have their own spins on their uniforms that makes them unique like Donās fixer buttons, Heathcliff forgoing the jacket and vest altogether, Faustās turtleneck, Ishmaelās jacket originally being a longcoat that she tore off (was torn off?) for reasons unknown, and Meursaultās giant-ass belt buckle, to name some of them; which can give a little insight into their personalities and whatnot.
And as the outism blog you already know where Iām going with this.
Why the croptop jacket, Outis?
Tactical advantage? Personal preference?? The company ran out of material for the jacket and made it two inches shorter??? Did Faust take one look at her on the job interview and saw her dyked out in that military uniform and went Oh Faust knows what to do with you and filed the order for her LCB uniform????

Every 21st century piece of writing advice: Make us CARE about the character from page 1! Make us empathize with them! Make them interesting and different but still relatable and likable!
Every piece of classic literature: Hi. It's me. The bland everyman whose only purpose is to tell you this story. I have no actual personality. Here's the story of the time I encountered the worst people I ever met in my life. But first, ten pages of description about the place in which I met them.
Modern writing advice: Yes your protagonist should have flaws but ultimately we should root for them and like them from the beginning :)
Charles Dickens: Here is the worst ugliest rudest meanest nastiest bitch youāve ever met in your life.
Modern writing advice: Make sure your POV character goes through a significant arc! Make sure they are changed by the narrative! Make sure they learn a lesson!
Narrators of every book of the 19th century: the lesson I learned is these people fucking suck, sayonara you freaks
Modern writing advice: Itās all about the character overcoming obstacles and learning! They learn their lesson so they can fix their mistakes and make good choices in the future! Itās a character arc! Itās called growth! Readers love it!
Everyone from ancient times through the 19th century: would you like to watch a Guy fuck up twenty times in a row
Thereās a regular at the fabric superstore. Sheās at least 80 years old, and she just got back into sewing after giving it up for 40 years. Weāll call her Irma.
I love Irma.
Irma is constantly surprised by the newfangled sewing gadgets our store sells. Today she bought some extra-fine glass-head pins and a magnetic pincushion. As Iām ringing her purchases up, she tells me very seriously, ādid you know, if youāre careful, you can sew RIGHT OVER those pins? You donāt need to take them out!ā
I told her that I liked that you canāt accidentally melt the head of the glass pins with your iron, and she nodded. āThey used to all be like that, but times changed.ā
I love old sewing machines and asked what kind of machine she has, and she goes, āOh, itās an old Singer Featherweight that my husband bought me when we were first married. Itās probably not worth anything anymore, but the thing sews fine. Have you seen the ones those girls over thereāā indicating the sewing machine sub-store in my location āāhave? Those things go in every direction and the needle always comes to the top when you stop sewing! Imagine how handy that is!ā
I mention that I used to sew on my grandmotherās Featherweight but now thereās a intra-family war about who owns Grandmaās Featherweight and so no one gets to use it. Itās genuinely the best portable straight-stitch machine Iāve ever used.
I warn her to never let anyone tell her that Featherweight isnāt worth something. āI know, I miss my husband and itās always going to have a place in my heart, just like your grandmaās.ā
āI mean, Irma, thereās that, but theyāre also worth a really notable amount of money. The Singer Featherweight is really financially valuable. I almost never see them for sale around here for less than about $400, and thatās in bad condition.ā
āItās a good thing my husbandās dead, honey, because if you told him that he managed to buy a sewing machine thatās worth more in 2021 than he bought it for in 1950, well, heād be so smug that I just wouldnāt be able to tolerate driving home with him.ā
