Anyway, I bought the necklace and the single bracelet. And now I’m so broke, I won’t be able to afford my bipolar depression medication for the next 10,000 years 😝😝

I was born on normal Christmas Day (25th December), but I still got myself two presents - apparently Christmas babies only get one, that’s our “first world problem”.

There are countries that are starting to or have started requiring people to use proper IDs to identify themselves (i.e. their age) online in order to prevent minors from using certain platforms like social media. I partly welcome this move. I recognise that it could be good that certain content isn’t so readily available to minors, but I say ‘partly’ because I’d be a hypocrite if I were to say that I support this move fully.

I was an 80’s kid. I was in my teens when Internet for the masses became a thing. I was writing lemon slash fics at 15, posting on Geocities, Yahoo! Groups, FFNet… and of course reading them. My pairings were all underaged or underage-passing, or involve some kind of power play or power imbalance: YuYu Hakusho, Justice Bao, Slam Dunk, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Sailormoon, Gundam Wing, Fushigi Yuugi… these were some of my starting points. Then there were Gravitation, Harry Potter, Kyo Kara Maoh!, Yami no Matsuei, Prince of Tennis, Weiß Kreuz, Psychometrer Eiji (where I got my username), Detective Kindaichi…

Basically if the same stringent minimum-age rule applied back then, I’d have been miserable. Being an Alphabet Kid in a conservative culture, all I had was fanfiction! When AdultFFNet made us click a button to confirm we’re over 18, we just clicked that. When we were asked to input our birthdate to confirm we’re not a minor, we just typed in the appropriate year. Easy peasy.

BUT! No one ever made a fuss over inappropriate pairings or eww gross kinks or icky yucky problematic scenarios or 😱OhNoesSaveTehChildrenLeGasp😱 - at least, not that I was aware. Even as a teen, I knew to just read what I want to read and not read what I don’t want to read. If there’s a means to communicate with the author (message board, comment section…) you just use it to let them know you like their story and to encourage them to write more, that’s pretty much it. No  harassing. No moralising. No policing.

So, my bipolar depression comes with loss of appetite and very low desire to eat. For the past 2.5 years, eating has been a daunting chore. I’d usually eat once every two days - maybe a slice of bread or a few pieces of alkaline crackers. There had been times when I’d eat every three days; I only drank plain tea and some water to take my meds.

BUT! For the past few weeks I’ve found that it greatly helps to watch videos of Cheng Yi eating to stoke my appetite. HE. IS. SO. ADORABLE WHEN HE EATS. ALSO WHEN HE DOES ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. BUT REALLY IT’S THE EATING THING.

My eating habits have vastly improved. For the past couple of weeks I’ve consistently been eating one main meal (rice + side dishes) a day plus a snack. This morning I had two pieces of youtiao with some porridge. If I can keep this up, in one or two weeks, I won’t look emaciated anymore 🥳🥳
