So... Intro post... apparently people do those? I guess?

So, hi! I'm AppleSnapple! But you can call me Apple.

Pronouns? she/her/hers or they/them/theirs are preferred but I'm not super picky.

I'm in every single fandom known to man(I will only elaborate if asked, the full list is... a lot), but I'll generally only post about whatever my friends are into or that I'm watching right now. Mostly it's been aphverse right now, but I do want to get back into posting about things like My Happy Marriage and Dr. Stone again.

I also write fanfic! You should totally check out my longfic "New World Same Bad Luck" on Archive of Our Own, it's an Alien Stage x DC crossover that I promise I'm working on! It's just been slow.

Character Quirks Cheat Sheet

List of fun and not-so-fun quirks to give your characters and add some depth to their personality.

Communication:

Overusing specific phrases.

Talking with their hands like as if they're an orchestra conductor.

Has an easy 'tell' when they're lying.

Laughing at the worst moments (awkward/sad situations or laughing when in pain).

Is unable to insult anyone.

Is unable to swear.

Must always pace when talking for longer than 10 seconds.

Habits & Behavioural:

Kleptomaniac.

Needs background noise to sleep.

Has to check they've locked the front door multiple times.

Eats at very specific and exact times of the day and cannot function without doing so.

Btw if you're in North America, planting squash even if you don't like to eat it provides a vital food source for squash bees, which collect pollen exclusively from (you guessed it) squash flowers. And if you DO like to eat it, then you're getting food for yourself while also providing food for a very specialized native animal :)

Alright, I want to talk about something briefly.

Spoiler warning for "In Front of Mental Illness, Ghosts are Nothing", if anyone cares about being spoiled for that...

okay, you've been warned!

So, "Infront of Mental Illness, Ghosts are Nothing" chapter one, there's a line of internal dialogue by our goat Dong Dong Yao.

Specifically, "Just like before, Dong Dong Yao is still all alone! Dong Dong Yao has to handle this crisis all by himself!"

Now, obviously, this could just refer to how in the past [unspecified timeframe] since the evil movie night that made him think he's an alien, he has had no contact from headquarters, because obviously headquarters isn't real and can't communicate back to him. Plus, he's(to my knowledge) shown no signs of auditory hallucinations. Just visual ones and altered perception(again, please do correct me if I'm wrong. I was only able to read 6 chapters of this).

HOWEVER there is also the possibility that it's more of him recognizing a reoccurring pattern, considering he isn't stupid. He's crazy, yes, but he's not stupid in the slightest. Everything he does is generally logical to how he sees the world. He is even capable of manipulating people(though, that's just because I do think the whole talisman thing was him absolutely bullshitting but I feel like that's better as a separate post)

He could 100% have noticed that nobody believes him, nobody sees him as a capable individual, and nobody ever will because he's been in the institution since he was a child and that is just what he's used to.

He knows that nobody will ever believe him, and that because he's crazy nobody will help him.

Anyways, that's my quick little rant about one piece of thought dialogue in chapter one. Expect more of these! I really want to talk about how Dong Dong Yao has no concept of gender or why he changed his name next, I just don't have a good way to word those yet lol.

Because I want to know so badly how he actually sees things. Like, does he see himself as an alien? When Chief Zhou "passes" the test, does he have a visual difference now? I'm so curious how he sees the world.

So recently I saw this post(youtube short? tumblr post? extraneous social media post? I have no clue, I just remember seeing it somewhere) about Mystreet Vylad also going through the horrors/lore while he's abroad, and I'd like to contribute to this with some ideas in no particular order:

Do not ask what he had to do in the mob

He was kidnapped by the Mongolian military and held as a political prisoner. This was over a misunderstanding or smthn.

Was actively part of a similar plot to something like mlb.

Paid a security guard in beer in order to sneak into a college and sleep in one of the open dorm rooms.

Okay, so! This is the book Lucinda is working with in Aphmau's Year that Travis' freaky but hot demon grandpa wants and eventually steals if I remember correctly?The camera gives us a clear shot of the cover, obviously the show wants you to go look and decipher this, but I never found anything about someone deciphering this so here I am sharing how I deciphered it back when I rewatched Aphmau's Year.

First off, this is an existing fictional alphabet.

Here is a screenshot of the Zelda wiki as an example. This is an item from Ocarina of Time, and like many other items and signs and models with text on them, it uses the game's language Hylian, people call it Hylian 64 because it comes from both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on the N64 and is different from the other Hylian alphabets from the other games. It is completely decipherable.

So there you go! We have a base. Now to find out what's on the cover...

Oh.

It comes out as nonsense.

Because, as you can see on the chart, if it wasn't obvious enough, the alphabet is like a Japanese hiragana font. It only translates to Japanese, there is no English version of this, the only Hylian language that can be translated into English is the Twilight Princess one, not the Ocarina of Time one.

I tried to download the font and type each letter to see which one is which but it just doesn't work... This is for Japanese only. And the Japanese just doesn't work.

So I guess this is it. It IS gibberish. The only way to be able to decipher this is if we already had a deciphered text with this alphabet, and to my knowledge, this is only time it was ever used-

Oh, what's this? More Hylian? We don't even have a single clue on what this could say, it's just more nonsense...

Well! Maybe it IS actual text. Do we have the mosaic in a clearer view? Yes we do, KamiWasa uploaded their art nice and clear before.

See how there are two repeating 3-letter words? Those must be "the". So based on this and what Emmalyn told us about its content, this is just a fun little cryptogram. You can actually go and solve both the mosaic and the book cover, it's super easy and kind of fun.

Here are my results.

The mosaic: "THE GREAT MATRON AND VANQUISHING THE SHADOW LORD"

The book: "SNAKE MAN, KEEPER OF DESTINY"

Yes, I think those are typos. The mosaic actually says "vanquishfing" and the book says "sneak man". Someone forgot to spellcheck. Twice. Obviously it's "Snake Man" because Michael has been referred to as The Man with the Snake Eyes, so all of this makes 100% sense to me.
