ā Dangerous era! Michael x Reader
Contains: ANGSTY, Reader Cheats, Jermaine mentioned, Janet mentioned
Summary: you and Dangerous era!Michael have been dating for almost about three years, he considered it one of the most happiest relationships heās ever been in, but he noticed you started to slowly drift away from him.
As he sat in his own unbearable silence and the sound of thunder and rain clapped from outside, he felt nothing but disappointment. Michael had an entire day planned out for the both of you, he wanted to take you on a wonderful date out in the neverland ranch. He wanted to take you on the carousel and look at the beautiful view of the stars that shine above the both of you, and take you out to a lovely candle lit dinner, but he was met with nothing, not even a call. And here he was, sitting on the living room couch with almost dead roses he had bought just for you in his soft hands. Michael snapped out of his thoughts the moment he heard the doorknob turning, Thatās when he saw you almost drenched head to toe with a black trench coat on top of your head and shoulders. Michael stood up on his feet and placed the roses ever so gently on the coffee table.
āOh honeyā¦youāre drenched head to toe.ā
Michael cooed. He took the black trench coat off of your head. He froze the moment he got a closer look at it, it looked oddly familiar, but it wasnāt his or yourās either, you never wore trench coats. You let out a long exhausting sigh and placed your bags down on the ground and closing the door shut with your foot.
āThey held me back at work today, someone called out and another ended up quitting on the spotā¦ā
You explained while michael silently nodded, but deep down he felt something wasnāt right. You walked passed him towards the steps, he took note of how you didnāt look him in the eye which felt like a stab straight to his aching heart. Michael followed behind you up to your shared bedroom, you went into the bathroom to change out of your work clothes while michael placed himself onto the bed, the silk on the pillows glowing underneath the ceiling light. Michael picked at the skin on his fingers while tapping his foot up and down, he was so excited to take you out on such a beautiful night, but as always, work held you up again. While his thoughts slowly started to get the best of him, he was snapped out of it by the sound of a buzz from beside him, it was your phone. Although Michael respected your privacy, his curiosity got the better of him, He picked up your phone and clicked a button to see that it was from someone named āJā.
āI had a lot of fun tonight. Letās do it again, same time next week?ā
Michael felt his blood run cold and heavyweight sink down into the pit of his gut, what did this mysterious āJā mean they had a lot of fun tonight? Suddenly the bathroom door creaked opened which made Michael flinch, not having enough time to react and set the phone away. You felt panic rush through your body as you snatched your phone out of Michaelās now trembling hands.
āMichael what are you doing?! Are you going through my phone?!ā
Your tone was more defensive, it made him more suspicious.
āOh no I-i wasnāt trying to do that sweetheart, it buzzed and I wasnāt thinking so Iā¦.ā
Michael could hardly explain himself, you looked at your phone screen to see what message michael was reading, when you saw who the message was from you cursed underneath your breath. Michael looked at you with those sweet big doe eyes you once adored, but in that moment you felt nothing but annoyed.
āā¦What were you really out doing tonight, my love? I wonāt be upset with you.ā
Gosh why did he have to be so patient with you? You let out a frustrated sigh and rested your hands on your hips.
āA friend of mine from work is going through a pretty rough divorce, so I took her out to the bar down the road from our jobā¦ā
You kept avoiding eye contact with michael. He bit at his lip, not really believing the story you told him.
āI justā¦I wanted to take you out tonight, Angel. I really did. I had a whole plan.ā
His voice cracked. You frowned a little since he started to feel guilty for neglecting Michael, you couldnāt recall the last time you and him went out on a date night together since Michael had been going back to back on concerts and finishing up his new album. You slipped your phone into your pajama pants pocket and placed yourself next to him on the bed, wrapping your arms around his.
āIāll tell you whatā¦how about we grab some popcorn, and we watch a romantic disney movie together, and we can try to have our date night next weekend?ā
Michaelās shoulders relaxed at the thought of watching a romantic movie with you, itās slowly brought back a smile on his face as he gave you a nod.
āYeah, Iād like that a lot.ā
The night went on and everything felt normal again, but to Michael it felt like there was a missing piece to the puzzle. It didnāt feel like the movie nights that you and him have had before, it felt like a way for him to stop asking questions about the message, and deep down it was something no movie could distract him from. Later on in the night, You both were now in bed. You were fast asleep, but Michael couldnāt even shut his eyes since he was drowning in his own brain. He silently slipped out of bed, trying to avoid waking you up and tiptoed his way downstairs where he passed his maids cleaning the house for the night. Michael stepped outside to his backyard where the Neverland amusement park was. The lights of the rides were shut off, but the only thing that kept the backyard magical and bright, were the shining stars above him. Michael inhaled deeply while he kept his gaze up on the stars as if he was looking for an answer to the situation.
Day after day, it all felt the exact same. You would come home late, claimed it was work holding you up once again, and yet every time he wouldnāt say a thing about it. He kept a close eye on the little things, like when you smiled at your phone a little bit too hard, but never for him. Michael felt like he was going nuts, like you were a stranger living in the ranch with him, not his girlfriend, finally it came to the day where he couldnāt take it anymore. Shockingly enough, you came home early in the late afternoon, you did the same routine when you always arrived home late, giving your work coat and bags to the maids, and making your way to the bedroom to change. When you first had walked in, Michael wasnāt in the bedroom, but once you opened the door, there he was sitting on the bed directly towards the bathroom door. you felt your body freeze for a moment but you relaxed once you saw it was Michael.
āHey youā¦.how was rehearsals today?ā
You had asked, but you received no response. There was no look that had to be on Michaelās face for you to read that he was frustrated, You felt your blood run cold, you hardly ever saw Michael so angry.
āMichael, if this is seriously about last week and your still upset, then you have an issue...ā
You didnāt even try to hide the annoyance in your tone, you leaned against the doorway and crossed your arms to your chest, Michael sighed.
āSweetheart, for the past couple of days we havenāt been intimate...ā
Michaelās voice was always soft as a feather, and the way he could be so calm yet the air was so tense, it pissed you off.
āAre you kidding me? And you call yourself a gentleman?ā
You raised your voice slightly, it took Michael by surprise and he put his hands up immediately.
āNo no! Goodness no, maybe I worded that wrong. What I mean isā¦i feel like me and you are more distant, Iām afraid your slipping away from me, angelā¦ā
You could see his frustration slowly creep away, you felt like you were being backed up into a corner to give an explanation once again, you gave a sharp sarcastic scoff.
āMichael, letās get one thing clear, I work my ass off twenty four seven just as much as you do, I canāt help it if my boss needs me to stay back and help so much.ā
Your tone remained harsh and defensive, you did see this look in Michaelās eye as if he was trying to read you, You knew that he knew something was upā¦
āā¦whatās really holding you back from me?ā
Your eyes went wide and you shook your head, running your hand through your curls, Michael stood up from where he was sitting and tried to make his way towards you, but before he could speak, you pushed him away.
āYour so unbelievable.ā
You walk towards the doorway to leave the bedroom, but Michael gently grabbed your arm And stopped you.
āBaby now hold on a moment pleaāā
You snatched your arm out of his grip, turning your body around fully to look him dead in the eye.
āThis is ridiculous! What are you accusing me of now? How are we gonna have a relationship when you canāt even trust me!?ā
āThen give me a reason to trust you right nowā¦ā
Michaelās voice had lowered, but still remained oh so soft and the silence started to become unbearable, he knew that feeling all too well.
āHow can I trust you then either? Are you sure youāre really going to rehearsals, Michael?ā
Once you utter those words, the color almost drained from Michaelās face. You shook your head once again and left michael with the thought of what you said, he wanted to follow you and reach out, but he stopped himself. This wouldāve been the first time you and Michael had argued, he wish this was the last. That same day in the middle of the night once again, Michael couldnāt sleep, you left him alone in the bedroom to sleep in the guest room since you were still so frustrated with him, he sat on the edge of the bed with a cup of warm chamomile tea in his hands to soothe him, but your words kept echoing in the back of his mind of how unbelievable he was to you. He stood up from the bed and stared at the window were the view of the garden was where he could see a home that was not only his, but was yours as well. He stared at the carousel, where Michael had brought you for your first date and the same place he told you that he loved you for the very first time. He could only question where it all went wrong. Michael faintly sniffled and tears started to slowly roll down his soft cheeks, he felt lonely, and you were the only person that made him feel like he had somebody.
The following day, yet again, you were distant, which was no surprise to him. But he did everything he could to try and make you happy. He had the chef make your favorite lunch for work and he sent you sweet and loving messages while you were away, he even left a couple of voicemails, but you shut him out, Michael was starting to stress himself the bone about fixing this and what he couldāve done to make it all right again between you both, he silently paced around the bedroom, this is more difficult than writing a song. The telephone then caught his eye, maybe all he needed was to talk to somebody, maybe a woman who knew what another woman might need. He picked up the phone and put it to his ear started dialing a number, he tapped his foot impatiently, it felt like an eternity of waiting, then click!
A female voice spoke in a sing-song tone.
āHey Janā⦠I need to talk to you, but in personā¦.please.ā
Janet knew her older brother all too well, she knew this was urgent, but even if it wasnāt, sheād never turn her brother down. Michael had disguised himself up, he left the ranch out to a secret spot not only Janet knew about, but you did too, a nice small diner they use to go to when Janet was a kid. Michael sat down at a table in the back corner of the diner with his sunglasses covering his eyes, he tapped his foot up and down once again. The bell chimes on the door caught his attention, he lifted his head up to see his little sister walking towards him with the same cheeky smile they shared, then sat down across from him.
"hey mikey...whats going on?"
Janet spoke quietly to make sure none of the other people and the diner heard, but of course they wouldnāt have mind if the servers recognize their voice since theyāve known them for quite some time. Michael swallowed hard, his Adamās apple bobbed slightly. He brought his hand up to his glasses and place them down on the table, his eyes were bloodshot, as if he was crying and alongside not getting a wink sleep.
āOh Michaelā¦what happened?ā
āItās her Janet⦠sheās so close, but so far away from me, And Iām afraid sheās seeing someone elseā¦ā
Janet softly gasped, putting a hand up to her chest. Since you both have been dating for three years, the Jackson family were quite familiar with you, and put all their trust into you, especially Janet. You were quite close with her and Latoya probably because the three of you were girls and got along quite well, so of course this was going to be a shock to her.
āAre you sure Michael? How do you know?ā
āI saw somebody with a āJā in her phone talking about how they had a good time and how they should do it again the following week, she told me work had her caught upā¦ā
Michaelās voice began to crack Janetās heart ached for her brother, she hardly ever saw him cry.
āI love her with all my heart Janā I love that women, oh so dearlyā¦ā
āI know, Michael. I feel like what you need to do is try and have a conversation with her again about your suspicions, that she needs to be honest.ā
Janet brought a comforting hand to Michaelās.
āI tried janet, but she called me unbelievable, and twisted it all on me. Iāve sent her messages this morning, Had her favorite lunch being made before she went to work⦠but she still shutting me out.āļæ¼
Janet stayed silent, trying to figure out the best words to be used in the situation, she felt terrible for him. She was watching his heartbreak one by one right in front of her. ļæ¼
āMaybe try talking with her when she gets home from work tonight, and if that doesnāt work, then itās best that you let her go, Michael.ā
Those words sent a rush of panic in Michaelās body, the thought of breaking things off and losing you physically made him ill. He didnāt know which decision to take, continue to live together like strangers, or feel lonely.
āI know itās a hard pill to swallow, but you canāt allow someone to treat you like this, youāre my older brother, and I only want the best for youā¦because I love you.ā
Janet said softly, Michael lifted at his head up to look at her in the eye while a small tear fell down his slightly dried, he stood up and wrapped his arms around her, closing his eyes and enjoying the embrace while it lasted.
āI love you too Janāā¦ā
After he talked with Janet, he started to feel slightly more confident about having the conversation. Maybe he really could fix things, and maybe he was really overthinking it all. when he arrived back to the Neverland Ranch and walked through the door, he could see some of the maids were a bit nervous and tense, which concern him since he never wanted them to feel that way. He then stepped into the bedroom, and almost everything was gone, your clothes, your jewelry, shoes, all of it was gone. Michael felt his heart stop for a moment, he kept double checking to make sure he was seeing things, he stressfully ran around the house like a mad man to see if he could find anything, any hint or clue of where you were, and yet he found nothing. he raced back up into the bedroom, snatching the telephone and dialing your number, but it went straight to voicemail. he kept calling over and over again until he heardā¦
"We're sorry, the number you have reached has been disconnected or is no longer in service.ā
Michaelās entire world stopped, and his heart was completely shattered. He stood there in silence while the telephone slipped out of his hand and now hanging down from the nightstand while a long ābeeeeep!ā Filled the room. All of your things were gone, you disconnected your phone number from him, you didnāt even leave a letter, you just ran away. Michael placed himself on the edge of the bed and began to cry silently, this had hit him like a racing truck, and the memories flooded his head, your smile, your eyes and your voice it was all mocking him. Michael didnāt leave his room for the the entire day, It was now midnight. He picked up the phone and began to call his little sister.
āHey Mikey! How did the talk go?ā
āā¦Michael? Michael are you there?ā
A couple more moments of silence, and then he spoke.
āShe left me Janet. I came home and everything of hers was goneā¦āļæ¼
Michael heard Janet gasp through the phone.
āOh my gosh. Michael Iāmā¦Iām so sorry, do you need me to come over?ā
āNoā¦but could you meet me at the bar not to far from here? I could use a drink.ā
Janet didnāt refuse, once they hung up the phone. Michael got himself ready and left. The city hummed like a sleeping beast, And the music from the bar shook the concrete, and when the ladies saw Michael, of course they went wild but he paid no mind to it. He sat himself up on the barstool and got himself a nice cup of OJ, he wasnāt really a drinker. When Janet stepped into the bar, she saw Michaelās face she could tell right through his makeup he was really hurting. She grabbed the seat next to him and wrapped her arms around him, giving him a side hug then resting her head on his shoulder, he gently tilted his to touch hers.
āIām so sorry Michael, you didnāt deserve thatā¦āļæ¼
Michael didnāt respond, just messed with the straw in his glass.
ā I spoke to mother about what happened, She isnāt quite happy..āļæ¼
Michael cracked a tiny smile and a chuckle.
āI can only imagineā¦ā
Michael and Janet sat together, chatting about other things to try and take his mind off of what happened, but it wasnāt simple and easy. Yet he wondered if you were off with another man, or possibly that mysterious āJā. The night went on, Michael had said something that made Janet laugh and throw her head back and she looked across from the bar and saw oddly familiar face not just one but two familiar faces, Janetās laughter quickly died down and she brought a hand to her mouth.
Michaelās face twisted and concern trying to look in the direction Janet was looking in, and then he saw it, youā¦..with their brother Jermaine. Michael felt sick to his stomach as he saw you and Jermaineās lips touch, You were laughing a little bit too hard to whatever he was saying, I guess he finally discovered in that moment, who the mysterious āJā was, somebody so much closer to him. You turned in the direction where Michael and Janet were sitting, and you locked eyes with him you can see the pure disappointment in his face and your body froze, Michael took one last sip of his OJ before standing up and heading out of the bar. Janet looked at you, including jermaine and shook her head, making her disappointment known as well as she followed behind her big brother, you wanted to go after him and apologize, but youāre pride took over you and you stayed with Jermaineā¦ļæ¼ļæ¼ļæ¼
