hi I haven't posted in forever but I keep thinking about how people STILL in the year 2026 are boldly saying with their chest that Snape either DESERVED to be s/aed??? or that being s/aed is comparable to being called a slur??? or that he just wasn't s/aed at all??? I have multiple issues with these topics
NOBODY. NOBODY. DESERVES to be ASSAULTED. EVER. If you genuinely think this, you're a vile and DISGUSTING human being. s/a is extremely traumatizing and shrugging it off, even if it's a fictional character, saying he deserved it is genuinely sick.
Slurs being said to you is traumatizing but it's not s/a traumatic, it's NOT comparable. this is coming from someone who has been called racial, homophobic, transphobic, and abelist slurs. I KNOW it can hurt, I KNOW it can stick with you for an extremely long time, but I also know personally that it will never be in the same trauma range that s/a is in. it's TWO DIFFERENT types of trauma that are both valid, but again not comparable
holding someone upside down in front of a crowd and exposing them IS in fact assault! not only is you saying that it isn't s/a extremely untrue, it can make people that's went through EXACTLY the type of assault he went through feel HORRIBLE. this isn't just you denying that it happened to a fictional character. you saying it doesn't count as assault is hurtful to victims that have went through that and feel genuine trauma from it.
It is OKAY to not like Snape, it's okay to hate him. It's NOT okay to say he deserves to be s/aed. It's NOT okay to claim his s/a isn't "true" assault considering that many REAL, NON FICTIONAL people have went through and been traumatized by being forcibly stripped.
and again I will repeat this. slurs are traumatizing, but a different TYPE of trauma. both VALID types of trauma but DIFFERENT.
