human au in which teen norway can see ghosts and stuff and one day he’s approached by denmark, a particularly annoying ghost boy with really stupid hair and somehow they become very very close friends and together they help other ghosts and lost souls to be at peace at last and soon norway starts to realize he’s falling in love with den which isn’t good at all bc denmark is fucking DEAD?? so he gets really desperate and when denmark finds out what’s bothering nor, he sighs and keeps stumbling and stuttering and seems to feel very uneasy in general until he finally tells norway the truth: he’s not really dead, he’s been in a coma ever since his own mother tried to kill him and now he’s not only scared to “go back” but he also doesn’t know how. norway, on the one hand relieved denmark isn’t dead, but on the other hand also deeply shocked by his friend’s story, promises him to find a way to help him wake up so they can really meet each other without one of them being some supernatural being.

what if denmark forgets everything and norway once they do get him back into his body- like, norway waits for a goddamn eternity at a spot where they promised to see each other when it works and ends up going there alone maybe nearly every day cause denmark wouldn’t know the promises made. and when he decides to give up, he tells himself that denmark might have actually found peace instead without him.

and one day years later at like a coffee shop or something and norway has finally gotten over him and den walks up and smiles the same smile norway fell in love with and says “I feel like I’ve seen you before”

OKAY AND WHAT IF YOU FUCKING FUCKS WOULD LET ME HAVE MY TOTALLY SATISFACTORY ENDING FOR ONCE

BUT THE IDEA OF NORWAY AND DENMARK BECOMING FRIENDS PROPERLY AND BONDING OVER BRINGING PEACE TO SOULS AND DENMARK LITERALLY ATTRACTING SO MANY GHOSTS CAUSE HE WAS ONE BUT HE’S ACTUALLY REALLY SCARED OF THEM AND NORWAY GIVES CUDDLES TO HIM AND ‘FUCK I’VE FALLEN IN LOVE AGAIN’

That proves the point, they want attention, they want you to pay attention to them not them!
