I think I said this before, but something about evil™️ just getting the stuff done while the good guys™️ are dragging their feet makes me lose my mind. Russia needs North Korean missiles - they get them. Russia needs North Korean troops - they get them. Cooperation with China, Iranian drones, Belarusian territory to invade Ukraine, American whatever-it-is-that-they're-doing-right-now. They get anything they want, while for us everything feels like a humiliation ritual. No no it's okay, strongly condemn that attack, that'll do!
I feel insane, I want to scream in everyone's faces and shake them by their shoulders. Do you know how shitty everything is in Ukraine right now???? In 2022 there was a window of even non-involed people caring, I remember writing to random foreign bloggers asking to post some donation links or news links and I wasn't even doubting that they are at least aware what I'm talking about. But years go by and now I get "wait this is still going on?" from them, when everything is worse than ever
Yeah. Nobody cares. War is inconvenient/depressive/"whataboutpoorrussians???"/"Iwannawatchheatedrively"/"ukrainiansarejustfunkillers"/"ukrainiansjustwantattention"/whatever else shit that happened these 5 years of war... Btw, if I don't post about the war it doesn't mean it ended and I live happily ever after. For those who're curious and care about Ukraine I have this blog to show all Ukrainain's struggle, russians war crimes and the true face of russia.
Anne of Green Gables is the best known L. M. Montgomery book for good reason, but everyone who was ever a weird and morbid child should really take the time to read Emily of New Moon. Whenever someone hurts her feelings in some way, she deals with it by imagining them weeping at her funeral or pleading forgiveness by her deathbed, and if that is hashtag-relatable to you then yeah you should probably check it out.

How do I explain certain specifics of Ukrainian-russian interactions... did you know russians call Ukrainians many offensive words, but they don't get particularly creative.
One of russian insults towards Ukrainians is using the Ukrainian word for "independent" as a descriptor, but like an insult.

Occasionally, I notice that some westerners think THEY know russians BETTER than Ukrainians who have been forced to neighbour russians for BASICALLY FOREVER. A lot of the more subtle things can be untranslatable or hold many small intercultural references, political memes even, or hints at previous events.
People outside of the bubble, who never had to tolerate russian internet spaces, can easily underestimate just how essential this survival for Ukrainians is.
Ukrainians also have russian relatives, used to have russian friends, and other long-lasting bonds that have been tested repeatedly throughout YEARS.
It's not like russians decided to invade Ukraine out of nowhere. People overlook the fact that Ukrainians have been resisting russian influences and fighting for just. basically living.
Why do Ukrainians always have to pay with their best and bravest people to prove they are people who deserve TO BE
I think under every post about of russian's war crimes should be tags like #russian ballet #russian culture #russian artists #russian literature #russian art and #heated rivalry. So ppl know what kind of ppl russian culture raised.
I'd like more foreigners to know about what Russians are doing here, but unfortunately I'm afraid that most people simply won't want to connect Russian culture with why Russians treat us and other nations the way they do. Many Ukrainian artists and cultural activists also say that this is one of the hardest conversations you can have with foreigners.
In my own case, I'm simply not always ready for the hate that I end up attracting whenever I talk about something other than the grief caused by this genocidal war - where simply naming who is attacking us can quickly turn into another argument. After my most recent post, I already received anonymous messages telling me to kill myself and similar things, even though I didn't write about the historical discrimination against us, past and present Russian crimes, or anything particularly confrontational toward Russia. So you can probably imagine what I, and many other Ukrainians, receive when we write about anything beyond simply saying: "we're suffering" (without naming the cause).
Maybe that seems like weakness on my part, but a long time ago I decided to put my energy into helping my own people in the real world instead. I also know that I'm simply not the kind of person who has the mental energy to educate people online.
Overall, I'd say that we Ukrainians are a nation that wasn't used to this kind of confrontation, especially when it comes from more than just Russia. So when you're also living through a war, many of us - after spending much of 2022-23 arguing with pro-Russian foreigners and trying to explain our perspective - eventually chose to mostly interact with one another instead. In a way, I think that's part of what has helped us stay resilient: we've learned to direct our emotional energy toward the community around us.
That's also why, when some foreign celebrity gets involved in yet another pro-Russian controversy, you rarely see many Ukrainians in the comments under those English-language posts anymore, even though we do see them. That reaction may give people who don't follow this war closely the impression that there isn't really a problem anymore or that nothing is happening here. It also means Ukraine receives less attention.
But it is what it is.

Below, I'll provide some screenshots [they specifically relate to this footage of an attack on a fruit vendor] from the russian Telegram channel "From Mariupol to the Carpathians". What an "interesting" name, isn't it? This channel is nothing but a hotbed of russian scumbags. On this channel, they openly post brutal graphic videos of Ukrainians being killed by drones.
The world must see this. To russians, human life means nothing. It's merely a plaything for their bloodthirsty amusement.

On the night of July 31, during a Russian attack on Kyiv, a member of our community was killed—Eva Reuter, a paramedic with the “Hospitaliers” volunteer medical battalion, whose call sign was “Planochka” and who was also known as Alice.
Eva went to the site of the strike to help the wounded. The medical team she was part of came under a second Russian attack. Eva died while saving others, according to Yana Zinkevich, commander of the “Hospitaliers.” She was only 25 years old.
Before the war, Eva was an artist and art historian who worked in the game development industry. In June 2022, she defended her bachelor’s thesis at the National Academy of Arts, and by November she had joined the “Hospitaliers.” She evacuated the wounded and helped supply the Medical Forces.
Eva was an openly bisexual woman who spoke out about equality, women’s rights, and women’s place in the military.
Our condolences go out to Eva’s family, loved ones, and fellow soldiers.
