Progress, not Perfection These meme made me laugh out loud because of how well I once knew this script. We are always striving to be better versions of ourselves, whether it's in our personal relationships or our professional lives. I've been working on being more present and reliable for the people in my life. I struggled with committing to plans or showing up when I said I would. But over time, I've been able to improve in this area. I make a conscious effort to prioritize my commitments and follow through on them. And while I still have moments where I may flake out or need to cancel last minute, I choose to focus on the fact that I'm making progress. It's easy to get caught up in our own shortcomings and beat ourselves up over them. But I've learned that it's essential to give ourselves grace and acknowledge the strides we've made. It's okay to make mistakes and have setbacks as long as we are actively working toward improvement. It's crucial to surround ourselves with people who understand our struggles and support us on our journey. I'm fortunate to have friends and family who are understanding when I need to take a step back or prioritize my well-being. They don't expect me to push myself beyond my limits to fulfill social obligations. Having this support system has been instrumental in my growth and has made me feel more comfortable in my skin. I believe that acknowledging our progress and surrounding ourselves with supportive individuals are key components in becoming the best versions of ourselves. It's not always easy, but every step we take toward improvement is a victory. So let's continue to strive towards progress, not perfection, and be proud of the growth we've achieved so far. #VulnerabilityIsMySuperpower #ClassOfOneDayAtATime #UTSC #UofT #MyLifeShouldBeAMovie #LivingMyHashtags #BestFeelingEver #RecoveryIsFreedom #IAmSober #WarriorMadeMeDoIt #Gratitude #TrustTheProcess #SomebodysMotivation #CallToAction #IAmSoberAppAmbassador #TheAnyaShow #CommunicateAndBuild #CPTSDWarrior #BeYourOwnMeme #AncestorsDream #HealingIsTheNewBlack #CannabisAdvocate #BlackGirlMagic #BlackGirlInTherapy #Naturalista #Blogger #DogLover #Mother (at Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpBMlJiylxs/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I love US for real but we need to talk 💬 This is a CALL TO ACTION!! As Black people, we have made significant contributions to society, GLOBALLY, from art and music to politics and business. Today, we stand on the shoulders of our ancestors, who fought for our freedom and paved the way for us to achieve our dreams. We have a responsibility to not only honour their legacy but also to surpass their wildest dreams. One way we can do this is by pursuing our passions and excelling in our chosen fields. Whether it's in the arts, sciences, technology, business, or politics, we have the power to positively impact society and shape the future for generations to come. Another way we can live up to our ancestors' wildest dreams is by advocating for justice and equality. We must continue to speak out against racism, discrimination, and social injustice and work to create a more equitable society by challenging systemic barriers and advocating for policies that promote diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all. We must also honour our ancestors' legacy by preserving our culture and heritage celebrating our traditions, languages, and history and passing them on to future generations. Finally, we can live up to our ancestors' wildest dreams by being proud of who we are and embracing our identity. We should never feel the need to assimilate or conform to societal norms. Instead, we should celebrate our unique qualities and differences and use them to our advantage. By doing so, we can surpass our ancestors' wildest dreams and create a better future for ourselves and for generations to come. #SharingIsCaring #KnowledgeIsPower #BlackHistory365 #WeAllWeGot #ModernDayGriot #StayEnlightened #VulnerabilityIsMySuperpower #ClassOfOneDayAtATime #UTSC #UofT #RecoveryIsFreedom #IAmSober #WarriorMadeMeDoIt #Gratitude #TrustTheProcess #SomebodysMotivation #CallToAction #TheAnyaShow #CommunicateAndBuild #CPTSDWarrior #BeYourOwnMeme #AncestorsDream #HealingIsTheNewBlack #CannabisAdvocate #BlackGirlMagic #BlackGirlInTherapy #Naturalista #Blogger #DogLover #Mother (at Vancouver, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co7otTypeCi/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
#Repost @utscaacc with @use.repost ・・・ My name is Anya Nicola, I'm a 1st-year undergraduate at UTSC, and the cultural wealth I bring to campus is navigational and resistance capital. My openness with my colleagues and faculty about my academic journey has allowed me to use my life experiences to share my navigational skills. Resistance capital is essential for marginalized groups to assert their rights and defend themselves against oppression. By advocating for the needs of myself and others on campus, I am doing my part to minimize oppression and amplify the sense of community on campus. @anyanicolablogger @astoldbyanya @theicc4help @utsc_engdept @utscmgmt @utsclibrary @utscarts @utsc_athletics @utscdhs @utscanthropology @utscstudentexperience @utscphilosophy @utscres @utscartscicoop @bse.utsc @idssa.utsc @africanimpactuoft @utscasa @ccutsc @fbp.utsc @gaanaatutsc @utsc_bsb @bslp.utsc @utsc_blackhealthstudiesnetwork #utsc #uoft #utscstudents #blackhistorymonth (at University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC)) https://www.instagram.com/p/CodZ3UrrijE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I brag different. 1700 days and counting... One day at time. Daily Reflections for January 16 Hitting Bottom Why all this insistence that every A.A. must hit bottom first? The answer is that few people will sincerely try to practice the A.A. program unless they have hit bottom. For practicing A.A.’s remaining eleven Steps means the adoption of attitudes and actions that almost no alcoholic who is still drinking can dream of taking. --Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, P, 24 Hitting bottom opened my mind and I became willing to try something different. What I tried was A.A. My new life in the Fellowship was a little like learning how to ride a bike for the first time: A.A. became my training wheels and my supporting hand. It’s not that I wanted the help so much at the time; I simply did not want to hurt like that again. My desire to avoid hitting bottom again was more powerful than my desire to drink. In the beginning that was what kept me sober. But after a while I found myself working the Steps to the best of my ability. I soon realized that my attitudes and actions were changing—if ever so slightly. One Day at a Time, I became comfortable with myself, and others, and my hurting started to heal. Thank God for the training wheels and supporting hand that I choose to call Alcoholics Anonymous. --From the book Daily Reflections. Copyright © 1990 by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. Happy Kwanzaa Day 6 Kwanzaa is an annual week-long celebration honouring Black history and culture. December 31 marks Day 6 of Kwanzaa. On the sixth day, we light the third red candle, representing the principle of KUUMBA, or creativity. Pledge: On this day, we pledge always to do as much as we can, in the way we can, to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than how we inherited it. Black people practically ooze creativity, and last year’s TikTok creator strike is evidence of how influential and powerful our creativity truly is. Our creative minds have birthed ground-breaking inventions, culture-shaping entertainment and fashion, and new ways to heal and uplift the community. Ways to practice Kuumba include participating in a musical Kwanzaa celebration, painting a mural or starting a garden in your neighbourhood. You can create something new, whether a piece of art or even a new idea. On this day, it is also customary to host a large feast called Karamu, held at home, a community center or a church. Typically, the menu will feature foods and ingredients native to the African continent, such as sesame seeds, peanuts, collard greens and yam. #TisTheSeason #VulnerabilityIsMySuperpower #ClassOfOneDayAtATime #UTSC #UofT #MyLifeShouldBeAMovie #LivingMyBestLife #LivingMyHashtags #BestFeelingEver #RecoveryIsFreedom #IAmSober #TheyMadeMeDoIt #Gratitude #TrustTheProcess #ModelFromTimeG #SomebodysMotivation #IAmSoberAppAmbassador #IJustBeMindingMyBloodclaatBusiness #TheAnyaShow #CommunicateAndBuild #CPTSDWarrior #BeYourOwnMeme #HealingIsTheNewBlack #CannabisAdvocate #BlackGirlMagic #BlackGirlInTherapy #Naturalista #Blogger #DogLover #Mother https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm2isaxJXAu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Resolutions… Nah. That's setting myself up for failure, but I will check in one last time for 2022 I BRAG DIFFERENT I survived that time of the year again that really does come down to one day at a time for me. 31 days always puts me through the ringer starting from November 30 until the end of the year. Am I OK? Good question. It depends on the day of the week, the time of day, shit; if I’m keeping it all the way real, it could sometime hang on the minute of the hour. What’s wrong? The past likes to visit and overstay it’s welcome (which equals mindfuck for me). I take inventory to remind myself that I’m safe. I know I’m OK. - I received my first final grade of 91%, and I have officially completed my 1st semester of University. - I started dating again. I am so much more aware now of my “self.” I can go with the flow while wearing my heart on my sleeve. I am learning specific healing can only be done when I let someone in. - My mom tells me almost daily how proud she is of me and how far I have come. - My beautiful family. We went through SO MUCH in the past two years, but we persevered by staying together; we needed this fresh start! - I have a supportive squad; my community is growing, and it is literally giving me life. But… it is December, and I overly reminisce about all the events that have hurt me. It's a pretty long fucking list. I had a game plan. It’s December 31st. I made it, and once the ball drops tonight, I will go into 2023 with a renewed faith in my purpose and a head start on what's coming next. I did not expect this much of a release, and it‘s way too much for FB or IG. Want to read the rest? Head over to my blog next year (tomorrow night, I promise). See y'all next year. #VulnerabilityIsMySuperpower #ClassOfOneDayAtATime #UTSC #UofT #MyLifeShouldBeAMovie #LivingMyHashtags #BestFeelingEver #RecoveryIsFreedom #TheyMadeMeDoIt #Gratitude #TrustTheProcess #ModelFromTimeG #SomebodysMotivation #IAmSoberAppAmbassador #TheAnyaShow #CommunicateAndBuild #CPTSDWarrior #BeYourOwnMeme #HealingIsTheNewBlack #CannabisAdvocate #BlackGirlInTherapy #Blogger #DogLover #Mother https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm2TQG_p6Pj/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Happy Kwanzaa Day 4 Kwanzaa is an annual week-long celebration honouring Black history and culture. December 29 marks day four of Kwanzaa, and on the fourth day, we light the second red candle to the left of the black candle. This candle represents UJAMAA, the principle of cooperative economics. Pledge: On this day, we pledge to build and maintain our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them together. Some ways to practice Ujamaa include buying from Black-owned businesses, banking with Black-owned banks, and even participating in a sou-sou or savings club with your friends and family. #TisTheSeason #VulnerabilityIsMySuperpower #ClassOfOneDayAtATime #UTSC #UofT #MyLifeShouldBeAMovie #LivingMyBestLife #LivingMyHashtags #BestFeelingEver #RecoveryIsFreedom #IAmSober #TheyMadeMeDoIt #Gratitude #TrustTheProcess #ModelFromTimeG #SomebodysMotivation #IAmSoberAppAmbassador #IJustBeMindingMyBloodclaatBusiness #TheAnyaShow #CommunicateAndBuild #CPTSDWarrior #BeYourOwnMeme #HealingIsTheNewBlack #CannabisAdvocate #BlackGirlMagic #BlackGirlInTherapy #Naturalista #Blogger #DogLover #Mother https://www.instagram.com/p/CmwvT2NpfUb/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Happy Kwanzaa Day 3 Kwanzaa is an annual week-long celebration honouring Black history and culture. December 28 marks day three of Kwanzaa, and on the third day, we light the first green candle to the right of the black candle. This candle represents UJIMA, the principle of collective work and responsibility. Pledge: On this day, we pledge to build and maintain our community together and make our brothers and sisters problems our problems, and solve them together. Some ways to practice Ujima include teaming up with members of your neighborhood to help renovate a community center, offering to shovel your neighbor’s sidewalk, or even just helping out around the house more often. #TisTheSeason #VulnerabilityIsMySuperpower #ClassOfOneDayAtATime #UTSC #UofT #MyLifeShouldBeAMovie #LivingMyBestLife #LivingMyHashtags #BestFeelingEver #RecoveryIsFreedom #IAmSober #TheyMadeMeDoIt #Gratitude #TrustTheProcess #ModelFromTimeG #SomebodysMotivation #IAmSoberAppAmbassador #IJustBeMindingMyBloodclaatBusiness #TheAnyaShow #CommunicateAndBuild #CPTSDWarrior #BeYourOwnMeme #HealingIsTheNewBlack #CannabisAdvocate #BlackGirlMagic #BlackGirlInTherapy #Naturalista #Blogger #DogLover #Mother https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmtwa5muA-4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
