beyond the truth of impact 🔪 trial 1 🔪 sabine @ the bullshit
Sabine barely has time to offer Abbey a nod of approval before
As all of, well, that goes down, one might notice Sabine slipping away from her place at the defendant’s bench and silently circling her way over to the chaos, keeping as close to the shadows as she can in the bright of the courtroom, eyes never leaving Phi’s struggling silhouette. They don’t leave even as Sabine presses something on her ID and tugs off her gloves off and sticks it all in her pockets, revealing scars upon scars all across her hands. Something’s changed in her body language, the energy she exudes far calmer and colder, not unlike a shark circling its prey.
At least there’s no blood yet, she thinks, but the thought brings her neither joy nor distress. Her mind is empty of all except one simple urge—and, fainter, but still desperately calling out, the deep-seated desire to channel that urge elsewhere.
Lurking behind the action, she waits until Eurydice has Phi with a sword to her neck (and god, isn’t that familiar) before striking with inhuman speed. One might expect a flash of blood, the spill of gore, but none of that happens.
Because in an instant, Sabine steps back, having plucked the feather from Philomena’s hand. Her expression is still terrifyingly blank, brain still struggling to escape from the clutches of adrenaline, but something pulls her out of it, and she whirls around to face—
Not Eurydice, not Phi, but… Emmanuel? Hm. After her little outburst, Sabine shakes her head, feeling herself slowly slide back to a more neutral state of mind.
“This is stupid. Everyone put your weapons away. You want more people to get killed? We’re supposed to solve a murder, not break out into some… some Royal Battle bullshit.”
That’s not what it’s called, Sabine. Sighing, she slips her gloves back on, keeping the feather in her possession.
“Sorry, Noir, but the jig’s up. I’m not gonna lecture you, ’cause you know what you did was wrong, and something real bad’s probably about to happen to you ‘cause Taiho’s a goddamn freak like that, so, just…”
“… You got anything you want us to tell your kid when we get outta here?”
Amazing how quick she’s gone from zero to sixty and back again. God, she wants a drink.
