Hi!! Thank you ❤️❤️ I use procreate on ipad! Its not free but its cheap, but in case you dont have an ipad, people usually recomend Clip studio paint (not free also ugh!). If you are looking for free options, I have tried Krita and I like it a lot :)) Both procreate and Krita are not exactly for comics but I manage haha I make the layouts by sketching the pages as thumbnails, like this!

It's ugly and loose but what is important is the design and rhythm! I sketch everything first just "vibing", usually just drawing basic rectangles with the scene and characters inside. Once the story and basic dialogues are settled, I grab a handful of graphic novels or mangas I have around to find inspiration and ideas if I want to change the panel composition.

Making a difficult choice 👑

So, as a "I'm still learning" artist, I wanted to ask is there something specific you do so that your colors match so well? Like something with the values or whatnot. I have the most difficult time matching my colors and finding my art peaceful because it always looks a mess.

Anyway, your art is very yummy and I love all of them 🤩🤩

Hi!! thank you so much 😍I'm no expert, I look at a hundred references! Sometimes I dont get the lightning right even looking at them, and after I while I manage to understand what is going on in my drawing (usually the values are off). This is common in the case of drawing scenes, where I have to make the color of the surroundings,characters and objects look cohesive. But most of the problem comes with the values/lightning part.

Values/lightning: When I look at references look at where is the darkest point in the scene/character, and where is the brightest. If it is a background, I also look how the sky/background interacts with the different subjetcs in the scene. I basically try to understand how the scene is "organized" in terms of values. You have to organize the values (like a gradient, from darkest to brightest) in a scene/character. If the values are off, the scene reads weird.

Quick question, do you ever thought of drawing the other characters more?? Like Madoc and Oriana, or Dain?

Maybe drawing the dinner table where Jude asks permission to be a knight and Madoc says she’s not a killer. It would be so cool to see Jude staring him with inner rage and thinking ‘he has no idea of what I am’ with a blurry image in the comic of future-Jude with a bloody sword. Or maybe the moment Dain goes to offer her the job as a spy and she reflects ‘it’s one of those decisions which will change all of your other ones’ and the comic panel opens to all the domino effect that decision will bring to her.

Okay, I definitely spiraled a bit lol
