yeah so since hannibal was following the rules the first time they had sex as a way of gauging how much of them will personally assigned (being quiet and easy and not voicing his desires or coming across of “dominate”) will came to the conclusion hannibal was heterosexual. but even now, knowing that he’s queer, he still understands that anyone he would be married to would have to “perform” because they need to keep him happy. especially hannibal since their marriage is so controversial and it would be easy for will to cast him aside, so he’ll never really know how deep hannibal’s love really runs due to this, and will always look for confirmation/reassurance that hannibal 1. enjoys having sex with him (he knows hannibal is a good liar and could easily pretend to like it) and 2. that hannibal actually loves him
