honestly really upsetting to see people be like “wow what a surprise alec baldwin killing a person he was always a dick anyway” or worse present any aspect of the shooting in a meme-y way when like. a real woman - halyna hutchins - died due to unsafe working conditions and everyone involved has said alec wasn’t told the gun was loaded… there’s a really big difference between being an asshole and a murderer and there’s no reason for a gun being used as a prop to be capable of killing anyone

on the other hand though i also don’t like people focusing on alec baldwin being traumatized by the incident rather than the tragedy of the life and career of an influential woman cinematographer who has been named a rising star in a very male-dominated field being suddenly cut short. not that it isn’t traumatizing to accidentally take a life, but halyna hutchins shouldn’t be a footnote in the story about her own death, and that treatment feels very gendered to me
