I definitely want to post more here! But what to post, that is the question 🤔

My ongoing fic, Savage, is slowly creeping to an end. I'm not setting an 'X more chapters and it's finished" goal because frankly, I'm physically incapable of sticking to that.

Rn I don't have as much time to write as I'd like, but that doesn't stop me from thinking. Mostly about what I might do next.

I had an idea for a short side series that'd go more into Red Ring as it's portrayed in the fic, but I think I'm gonna take a break from Savage after finishing it. Maybe I'll wait a while, then write an epilogue after the fic is complete, 3 chapters max. Then we'll see about that series 🤔

But I also had an idea for another Dispatch AU fic? Hear me out.

Shroud doesn't kill Robbie. He makes an attempt, but Chase actually outruns that bullet and shoves Robbie out of the way. Shorud gets locked up for attempted murder. Mecha Man Astral is alive. Brave Brigade doesn't disband. Robert is still being raised by his father, and Shroud becomes a story about how Robbie's instincts were right.

Years go by.

Brave Brigade members retire one by one, their superpowered kids take their place. But not Robert, because his father just refuses to step aside. Mecha Man legacy will pass on like it always did, with the previous generation dying.

And here comes Corporate Robert AU!

Robert spent years keeping his life on hold, because any day could be the day something goes wrong and his father passes away. He went to college, got an engineering degree, also got some fancy hero-management degree because he just needed to be doing something with himself. He handles Brave Brigade's PR, events, toy lines, movie deals while also helping out his father with mech maintenance.

Chase left Brave Brigade when it became apparent that he can't be using his powers anymore. He and Robert never lost contact.

An argument with his father causes Robert to pull back from Brave Brigade business, and Chase suggests he gets a job at SDN Torrance.

He comes to SDN not as a dispatcher, but as more of a management role. He isn't hired by Blonde Blazer, but by people above. Torrance is the least profitable branch in California, certain experimental villain rehab program is dragging it down. Robert is there to evaluate. Should the program be closed? Can it be saved? Is it even worth saving?

Meanwhile, the Mecha Man legacy might come for him at the worst possible time...

Some plot holes with Invisigal will be figured out later 🫠

And yeah it's gonna be Flambert again 🫣

I like it when robots sound like robots. Things pretending to be human beings is the plot of horror movies. The ability to make someone sound as completely stripped of... not humanity, but a massive chunk of it is...

Look, the way Eli is in Savage is special. He's got a voice, you gave him a voice. Robert texts like Eli talks and then almost completely sounds like him after Sunday. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I love that for them.

Now, as a reader, I wouldn't want to step on your toes as the writer, but I beg, I BEG, don't change the way Eli talks. All that probability speak, the way you write probability speak, please please please please please keep it it's fine? It's more than fine, I'm obsessed with this fic.

However, the choice is yours and I will mourn but I won't riot.

Also, finding you here has got me like the cat that got the cream. I am so much more confident in my existence thanks to your feedback on my art. Truly the height of artist on artist interaction. I am currently rereading Savage as we speak.

Okay, storytime. Kinda.

When I started workshoping ideas for Savage, I knew two things. First, it's gonna be Flambert. Second, it’s gonna be Robert&Shroud. Fucked paternal bond, a codependent relationship born out of trauma, rotten in the core but somehow, somehow working. Distorted love. Robert as a moon orbiting a black hole that is Elliot.

I wanted you to get to know the man under the implant, before stripping that humanity away with Robert's own hands.

The bond between Eli and Robert is the soul of this fic, and the way Elliot is is an integral part to it. A little uncanny. Dry. Analytical. Caring in a very selective, very "Elliot" way.

So, to the point!

I wouldn't dream of changing Eli! I like him too much. Care too much. Savage wouldn't be the same without him. There are many amazing Villain Robert AUs, and Eli is at the core of what makes this one mine. And I won't let myself be bullied into changing something important to me because some people are assholes who love witch trials. So no need to mourn ^^

I'm the person* who sent you that feedback on your fic, and it was because I thought you were doing something very clever with Shroud (and Savage, post augment). Shroud and (later) Savage have read very mechanical when they're talking about probability/stats/efficiency, and you've had this Red Ring is a Cult thing, and we now Shroud's mask has some predictive technology, so I thought you were doing a statement on how Generative AI is evil and the use of it is corruptive. I work in IT/Tech/Medical Tech so I'm unfortunatly familiar with a certain kind of way ChatGPT describes math/science/prediction because it's all over my industry and I assumed you were copying it as a dialogue style in those particular instances. It seemed like a really clever statement on Gen AI.

First of all, I'm so SO sorry for deleting your comment ;-; I totally misread it as an ironic praise/accusation that sounded like a bot to my tired mind. I got hurt and annoyed by a "bot" showing up and I basically took a real person for AI. Oh the cruel irony.

Also sorry for replying just now, I turned off my tumblr notifications because they were stressing me out. And I don’t use the site much anyway :/

I never tried to make a statement on gen AI while writing. I think that the game kind of did it already in a way, by showing how Shroud’s reliance on his predictions and algorithms became his downfall. He wasn’t able too see the human side anymore.

And tech/math/science thing, yeah I know very little about robotics and engeneering and the science of statistics. I did my research by going trough slideshows that some universities provide. My uni has an abundance of them, mostly student-made. I was largely drawing from what I found in those. Vocabulary, some calculation inspo for the "propability tree" moments. And some phrases that sounded smart and high-tech, but also were clear enough that I knew what’s going on.

... I should propably reconsider using those, now that I think about it. Didn’t really think about a possibility that those might involve AI, but if people made them with AI, I might've unknowingly copied AI candence, not "smart tech person" candence.

For the dialogue style, I just wanted to make Elliot sound robotic and basically stripped of humanity. He stuffed a computer into his brain, I believe I even used this phrase at some point (or something similar). Robert started talking more Elliot-like after the torture chapter, to kinda signal how he's losing humanity by willing to basically harm himself to such a degree. So the inhuman candence was a deliberate choice, just not one related to AI.

Damn I deleted it because I assumed it was an AI hate bot, it didn’t read as nice at all to me. Read as an AI insinuation, sarcastic praise that - ironically - felt generated. Or at least I read it that way.

Okay, it turns out that it was a person, my mistake. Wish I could apologize to them ;-; Maybe they were nice and it was just unfortunately worded. Maybe I was tired after an entire day of work and I misread the intent. That’s on me, I should've slept on it ig.

Shroud is supposed to sound inhuman and robotic in my fic, but I never even thought about him sounding generated.

I hate AI as much as any other creative person, it's a fucking plague, so maybe my feelings got the better of me and I just got hurt? Figured it was a bot, deleted it and went to sleep. And I hate AI witch hunts, too. One of my friends gave up writing entirely because they were put on blast like that.
