admittedly, it is just an interpretation coming from me drawing a conclusion based off the tiny abstract pieces fnaf throws at us, so i don't have like. "in the fnaf baking kit for children released in 2022, we see that if we used a blacklight on the provided cake recipe page, cassidy's mom has said I didn't fucking care that my daughter disappeared lol" stuff to pull out. so i'm not going to claim Definitively that this is Absolutely what happened

but like, there are pieces to make such interpretation from.

basically, any references to cassidy That I Know Of has her being obscured. obviously it is because she is possessing the Mysterious Easter Egg Yellow Bear Thing so on a meta-level it's kinda a given that she has Some degree of separation LMAO

but! what makes this degree of separation fascinating is that she's Not completely separated from the MCI. Actually, the fun part is that she's always grouped up with them - she's just oddly obscured, or notable in some way. you would notice this pretty quick in the first three games, where there's always going to be a sequence of fours, and the number five is either missing or special.

we're also talking about a kid whose gravestone was hidden, and the only reason why we know of her name is because she's the one who continually etched 'my name' in the book, like an alarm blaring God I Hope Someone Knows That I'm Gone! and it honestly recontextualizes the golden freddy appearances to me, because he always felt so Unnatural - if the game was coded 'right', you wouldn't ever know of his existence. but there is something to his references being the attempts of a kid trying her hardest to let you know that She's Dead As Well! please notice her (:
