old crackpot

Repeating it to myself like a mantra until I believe it: it's good my children want to share their video games with me, it's a net positive experience, and I won't die from boredom.

My 8 year old is scream crying at bedtime because of a bad sunburn. We gave him painkillers before bed last night but didn't think about it tonight until after the scream crying began. I'm taking him camping tomorrow. Packing the painkillers and crossing my fingers this isn't the worst ever.

Trying to figure out the right-for-me amount of interactions with my own parents & with Yan's mom (who he didn't talk to, but I facilitate visits between her and the kids) is super frustrating. Because I think my ideal amount really would be no interactions. But their correct amount would be a lot more. My parents would want a weekly visit. Yan's mom would want daily video calls and pictures plus monthly visits and sleepovers. And then kids side with me - they don't give a crap about grandparents. So like, I don't even know why I stress so much about it.
