Another gun

this was sparked by. well in part by looking back on scenes during my kim jacket analysis post but also a conversation I was having with the same non-kpts friend (I PROMISE I DON'T JUST KPTS RANT AT THEM LMAO) that sparked the jacket post. ie I was thinking of jacket colours again and I couldn't help but notice that when it comes to investigating the kittisawats specifically on his own, kim tends to be wearing blue.

I know, I know, I've talked about jacket types before but listen: the first time we see kim in blue afair is him in his blue leather jacket when big gives him the files on the kittisawats. leather, shields up, guard up. kim keeps himself somewhat emotionally separate from the investigation. that is the only time we ever see this jacket- which isn't uncommon with kim! making the fact that there are a couple jackets that do reoccur very interesting. one of those jackets, of course, is the black metal-studded one. I have talked about this one before and it's not my focus. the other jacket that comes to mind is his blue denim one.

I'll put that to a sliiight side for now, but it is very much worth noting I think that kim never wears anything quite so thick/protective as leather in his other blue outfits after porchay becomes Involved. kim is also seen to be wearing blue while investigating the kittisawats exclusively when in "mafia mode" so to speak: big gives him information (blue leather jacket), he asks big to get him info on the kittisawat car accident (blue... something. not sure what material. thicker than his usual shirts, but not as thick as denim. but it is at the very very least a blue overshirt), considering the murder board (blue denim jacket), interrogating the police inspector (blue denim jacket pt2).

fascinatingly, in scenes where kim is investigating the kittisawats but it is not outwardly explicitly a Theerapanyakul, aka when kim is with chay, we see chay wearing blue. in fact, chay introduces the blue, so to speak, since his uniform shirt is blue during their first meeting. at this point, of course, chay is not being investigated, but kim has already requested info on the kittisawats, and he gets the info right after their meeting. kim's interest in chay is visibly peaked during their first meeting when chay gives that long-ass fanboy answer. almost as if they are inevitably bound by kim's investigation, because they probably wouldn't have properly met if not for it. and the ink is blue. which could mean nothing

and then!! first studio session: chay is in a blue flannel. chay's home: chay is in a blue t-shirt (that says vendredi 19h18 which means wednesday 7:18PM in french. not sure yet if that means something in particular or if it's just a callback to the french of kpts la forte). outside kim's apartment when chay sings his love song: chay is in a blue (lined with red) flannel. something that breaks my heart a little- chay gives kim the guitar pick and says he likes kim: chay is in a light greyish sweatshirt with white and blue splatters. if!! we take my previous thoughts on white being kim's vulnerability (as the opposite of the black of the main family) and the blue as the investigation. the truth of the investigation tainting their relationship as well as kim's vulnerability spilling out in his affection for chay. shoot me I'm ill

(chay takes the sweatshirt off at his home, same as kim takes the jacket off. for a brief moment in time, they're just kim and chay, unburdened by the trappings of theerapanyakuls and kittisawats. except, of course, chay is in black. mafia black. chay is kidnapped and forced into the theerapanyakul world.)

during the break-up scene!! chay wears a purple flannel. interesting that we have a transition from blue flannel -> blue+red flannel -> purple flannel. I don't know if the red is meant to symbolise anything? the more involved with kim chay gets, the more "red" a taint he takes on? are we seeing stains of blood? am I reading too much into this? probably yes. my point is that the blue is corrupted. the secret is out. chay dyes his hair blue, a visible reminder of how he was used. chay blocks kim with his hair blue (his shirt is green. another "corrupted" blue or I'm reading too much into things. the point is, chay cuts kim off). he dyes it back to black (after kim has seen it. under purple lighting. their confrontation happens next to a purple neon glowing sign in the shape of an ecg). at the end, when chay gets the WDYS video, he is wearing a blue-tinted grey sweatshirt with a blue pattern on it. the fact that chay was merely used as part of an investigation as the start of their relationship consistently haunts the relationship because of the way it completely breaks down the trust between them, exacerbated of course by the fact that kim lets chay believe he'd never actually cared.
