Homesick
Stars scatter across the night sky and moonlight shine between the trees.
The trio head home after a long day at the stream with Eddie riding Cicos back while Ward walks beside them, plucking a fern he had picked up on the way.
Ward looks over at Eddie who's layed back, staring up through the trees, analyzing every dot in the sky.
"This your first time seeing the sky or something?" Ward asks mockingly.
Cico rumbles tiredly. "Don't start."
Ward rolls his eyes with a shrug and proceeds to pick the plant, meanwhile Eddie continues looking past the canopy.
"The sky here looks different." Eddie states, catching the other twos attention as he points up at the constellations above. "And the moon looks different from the one at home too."
Ward slows and looks up.
Cico lifts his head as he continues walking.
"Different? How so?" Cico gently asks. He shakes debris off his ruff causing the kid to giggle from the tickling fur.
His giggles die down. "Hmm Earth have different stars," Eddie gestures the unfamiliar constellations "We have pictures in em and we have a big crack in the sky!" He thinks for a moment "Mmm, but you can only see it somewhere else. It's too foggy where I live."
Ward comes to a stop and gazes at the view, scanning every dot and constellation placed within the deep blue.
"...Hey" he slowly catches up to walk beside Eddie and Cico again. "Do you..miss where your from..?" He asked hesitantly. "Like ehh y'know- ...homesick." he shrugged.
Cicos ear twitches at the question
"I'unno." Eddie turns his head to face Ward and he lets out a lazy breath with a smile. "I think like it here.
Cico rumbles in content.
Meanwhile Ward looks down on at the fern is his hand for just a moment and he then looks up.
His eyes fixed on glittering night above.
They continue their walk home through the sounds of natures humming.
