Bartender: thanks for stopping that bar fight, spiderman. Can I get you a drink? It’s on the house
Peter: thank you, but I can’t
Bartender: why not
Peter:
Bartender:
Peter, trying not to give his age away: I’m pregnant
Does anyone else love bad weather? Like the kind that’s loud and dark and draws attention to its self like pounding rain drops and thunder and lightning that seems just so close. And you can sit near a window and it’s dark outside and maybe you’ve got a candle lit or a lamp and it’s so warm inside and you’re wearing you’re favourite sweater and watching a good show or reading a good book and it’s beautiful outside the rain and the clouds and the sound of it all and you’re just so content and cosy and happy
Salem Saberhagen, everyone.
Legolas: So, how is the greatest warrior in all of middle earth doing?
Gimli: I don't know, how are you doing, Elf.
Legolas:
Legolas, voice cracking: I'm f i n e

You had always been warned away from the forest that sat so closely to your town. There were creatures in that forest, giant spiders that would snatch you up before you ever got the chance to scream, and even orcs lurked on the outer fringes from time to time. It was the elves however, that people were truly wary of.
The spiders and orcs would kill you, yes, but the elves would lock you up and let you wither away in the darkness of their dungeons. That was what the people would say at least.
Despite the tales of cold hearted kings and ruthless guards, you couldn’t help but be fascinated by them, the mention of them never failing to bring your curiosity to life. Unfortunately, despite living in a town that all but pressed up against the elves territory, you had never actually seen one. Very few in your town had, and their tales were very rarely pretty.
Somehow, it had never occurred to you that you might meet one yourself.
You knew you weren’t meant to be out and about all by yourself, especially so far from town, but listening to the trickling river, and seeing the beautiful trees in full bloom, you couldn’t help but long for privacy. Even if just for a while.
You loved to sing, always had, but unfortunately it was never looked too kindly upon by anyone in town, your “childish” antics considered nothing more than an irritation, something that needed to be stamped out of you. As such, you would often sneak away, finding little moments of peace where you could sing and dance as though you had no other burdens.
Lately you had taken to following the river along the edge of the forest, having found a beautiful little spot where you could sing and dance as you pleased, without the risk of anyone in town hearing or seeing you. The river was quite shallow here, and after crossing it, you had found a lovely little clearing where the forest didn’t press so closely to the river. It was there, that you loved to set yourself free, knowing it was as close as you could ever come to being in the forest, without actually stepping into their territory.
You had been so lost in your happy song, having broken off into laughter part way as you spun around childishly, that you never heard the orcs approach. When you finally did, you were too dizzy from your playful antics to actually flee, stumbling back with a cry of shock as you tripped over your own feet.
Vulgar words had spilled from the orcs lips as it smirked at you, stalking towards you as it pulled a blade free from its belt. Before it could reach you, a muted swish of fabric sounded, before a gleaming blade suddenly cut the creature in two, the blade all but singing as it parted flesh and bone with ease.
Trembling in shock, you stared at the still twitching corpse, covering your mouth and retching slightly at the sight. There was the sound of a blade being returned to its sheath, before your saviour approached you, footsteps practically silent, though you noticed none of these things, still frozen in shock and horror.
You startled as you were suddenly moved, letting out a soft sound of panic, until you realised it was the one that saved you. It was only as they very purposely blocked your view of the dead body with their own, that you finally managed to look away, shakily peering up at the face of your rescuer as you blinked through the terrified tears.
To your shock, you found an elf staring back at you, lips pulled tight with a rage that you quickly realised had nothing to do with you, not when their eyes held so much genuine concern.
…and… fear?
Galadriel: I give you the light of Eärendil, our most beloved star
Galadriel: on second thought that’s kinda weird. I’m so much older than him and the light comes from my angry uncle’s worst pet project
Elrond, crying in the background: I BARELY KNEW MY FATHER
I like the part in Fellowship when they’re in the mountains and Legolas is like “maybe the wizard can melt the snow for us” and Gandalf is like “maybe the smartass can go get the sun for us” and Legolas is like “LOL OK” and runs off and Gandalf is like “…shit”

Sam: [calls Gollum Stinker]
Frodo: Why do you do that, call him names and such?
Sam: Because Mr. Frodo-
Sam: Because he's a bitch.
i love the idea that elves just genuinely cannot keep it in their pants around other types of beings. they’re always like “i am an elf, a race of beings so perfect, so beautiful-” *sees one (1) non-elf* “o hm y go d”
The idea of this picture came from Perry-the-Winkle in Songs of Tom Bombadil, which tells a story of a troll who wanted to find himself a friend. Everyone was afraid of him except one little hobbit boy.
Something that just occurred to me about the Hobbits - especially Frodo’s - resilience to the Ring
Frodo was exposed to the Ring long before the events of Fellowship because it was with Bilbo in Bag End
Bilbo always kept it safe, so obviously Frodo wasn’t directly effected by it during that time, but even so there was a long while where Frodo and the Ring lived together, before he ever knew what it was or set out to destroy it.
While Frodo did, eventually, succumb to the Ring’s influence, he managed to resist it not only for the thirteen months of the quest to destroy it, but for several years beforehand.
And he only fully succumbs to it in Mount Doom in the heart of Sauron’s power.
The Ring thinks it’s hot shit? Compared to the willpower of Frodo motherfucking Baggins, the One Ring is a lil bitch
Lord of the rings where everything is the same except instead of Galadriel giving Frodo the Light of Earendil, she gives him a pair of light up sketchers.

Lotr is half horror movie. It just is.
personal headcanon that the legal drinking age is lower in tookland compared to the rest of the shire so it’s a tween tradition to have a ‘tookish birthday party’ in the pubs on that side of the border. the best part is sneaking back through shire counties where underage intoxication is illegal afterwards
You might say they’re getting
In-tooks-icated
What makes you think there’s even a law about drinking ages in the Shire?
