Okay now look; before you all criticize me and tell me “not everyone ships the abuse part ”, listen: you can’t nitpick what you want and don’t want in a character for a ship, you just can’t. Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Murdoc, always have. But I’m also very aware he has trauma issues and is (obviously) abusive with 2D. The 2Doc ship has always been abusive and toxic in my eyes. Abusive coping methods and actions don’t simply fade off like mist in a relationship. These characters were specifically designed the way the are, and it’s been established numerous times that 2d and Murdoc have a very violent relationship; so once you start shipping them and pulling the “well I don’t ship it abusively”, automatically makes it as if you normalize the behavior. “They’re only fiction, what happens isn’t real, stop getting so deep.” absolutely NOT. These characters are not just black and white slates, and what happens is most DEFINITELY REAL. I have been IN abusive relationships, seen it, heard it, felt it. Don’t you dare tell me it ain’t real. I am not here to stop you from shipping them. But I’m letting you know that continuing to do so further pushes in the normalization of abusive relationships and I consider the ship toxic. Sorry.
