Y/N nods her head as she reads over the contract.
“You did a good job with this, there's a lot of hidden loopholes that nobody would look twice at.”
“Well I’d hope so, I worked on it for a month and a half” JYP chuckles.
Y/N smiles, reaching out to grab the pen sitting on the desk. Glancing over the contract for a final time, she delicately signs her name and stamps the document, a breath of relief quickly following.
“It’s done.” She says breathlessly.
A moment of silence briefs over the two of them, their hard work finally coming to light.
For the past month and a half, the two of them had been working immensely to align everything perfectly for this moment. Y/N had been settling out all of her work responsibilities as well as clearing out her apartment, while JYP had spent hours upon hours drafting and editing a contract for the Head Manager position. Now, with all of that finished and Y/N signing on, they can finally get this plan into motion.
JYP looks up, staring at Y/N in awe. He can’t believe it, after years of hoping and searching for a solution, he’s done it. He’s brought the help needed to refurbish JYPE and bring back the life that's been sucked out of it.
He lets out a huff of air and wipes his eyes of his blooming tears.
Y/N turns to him, confused by his sudden gratitude.
“I’ve had to witness years of torment being inflicted onto so many people. Besides the countless idols, tons of trainees. Young ambitious kids wanting to live their dream and being completely crushed by a reality that should not exist in the first place.”
He makes eye contact with her, his tears resurfacing.
“What you’re doing… it’s extraordinary. Freeing.”
Y/N’s eyes grow wet as she listens to his words, sudden emotions hitting her all at once. She wasn’t anticipating this moment to bring her to tears, but his heartfelt words bring in an unexpected perspective that really humbles her.
While she chose to do this for herself to help her alpha and by extension Stray Kids, she’s doing so much more than she realized.
Changing the system in a way that’s functional, efficient, and sustainable while maintaining idols' health and happiness will be such an eye opener to others. It’ll encourage more idols to fight for better treatment, and call out the blatant abuse they are forced to endure.
Her actions are going to impact the industry in a way that genuinely shifts the standard and brings a better environment to everyone involved. Not just the current idols, but to everyone involved in k-pop. The managers, stylists, the trainees whose futures would have been so much dimmer without her. Everyone.
JYP grabs her hands and holds them firmly.
“So thank you, thank you for doing this. For me, and for everyone else who will be impacted by it.”
Y/N gives a shaky nod, one that comes out as a short bow.
JYP nods right back, his bow deeper to express his utmost respect.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Once the documents were settled, JYP gave her the greenlight to start the plan. He’d essentially given her free reign on how she wanted to go about it, to be as authentic and genuine as possible.
Y/N had decided she needed to be upfront about the matter.
Stray Kids was a well established pack, they weren’t searching for someone to join them. They weren’t looking for an alpha.
If she was to display herself solely as a manager and eventually try to be more to them, they’d feel very vulnerable, as if their staff member was trying to prey on them, and that was not what she wanted.
If she was going to be their alpha, they needed to know her intentions, directly from her. She needed to tell them who she was and what she was there to do, plainly, just like that.
And that’s how Y/N ended up on the doorstep of the Stray Kids dorm.
She took in a shaky breath, her body riddled with nervousness. She was about to go into their space and completely rock their world, and maybe not in a good way.
She didn’t know how receptive to this they would be, if they were too uncomfortable they'd tell her no and make the situation so much worse.
But she had to do this, they needed this as much as she did, and she could not fail them.
So, she took in one more breath to center herself, raised her hand up and knocked on their front door.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Chan’s eyebrows slightly furrowed as he clicked through the open track on his laptop. He was currently lounging on the couch with the rest of the pack around him, all of them hanging out in the living room together.
They had the day off, a highly unusual occurrence, but they weren’t gonna take it for granted and were making the most of it by relaxing and enjoying their time together.
Jisung was settled against Chan’s side, with his legs extended into Hyunjin’s lap. He was watching a drama on the TV while Hyunjin was drawing in his sketchbook, halfway listening to the show. On the other side of the couch, Changbin laid sprawled out on his stomach, completely knocked out in a nap. Jeongin and Felix were cuddled up on the floor, with Jeongin watching Felix play a game on his phone. Farther away from them was Seungmin reading a book. The only one not present was Minho, who was in the kitchen brewing some tea.
They were all content, happy to have this time to truly be in each other’s presence but still have the space to do what they wanted to do.
“Minho-hyung, hurry up, you’re about to miss the good part!” Jisung calls out
“Yah, hold on I’m coming!” Minho yells back.
Minho shuffles to quickly finish up the tea, discarding the tea bags and mixing in some sugar cubes. As he goes to lift the mugs up he hears a knock at the front door.
Confusion rises in him, no one ever knocks at their door unless they’ve ordered take out.
“Chan-ah” he calls out, but doesn’t get a response. He peeks his head out of the kitchen to see Chan with headphones on. Sighing, he calls out again, louder.
Chan jolts at the yell of his name and quickly yanks his headphones off, turning his body to face Minho’s direction.
“Huh? Are you okay, what is it?” Chan responds, a bit panicked.
“There’s someone at the door, are we expecting someone?”
Chan’s eyebrows raise in surprise, “Not that I’m aware of. Do you want me to get it?”
Placing the mugs back down, Minho makes his way to the door. “Nah, I’ve got it.”
Chan watches him, a bit wary at the prospect of an unknown person at their door.
As Minho approaches he tries to pick up the scent from the other side of the door. Surprisingly, he’s unable to detect anything, making him a bit more cautious as he looks through the peephole.
He sees a tall woman in a dark brown blouse and dark blue jeans waiting patiently at their door. The woman is unfamiliar, but she holds herself in a way that makes her seem certain that she’s at the right place.
Her demeanor assures him that she’s not a random saesang and so he backs up and opens the door.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Y/N stares at the man in front of her in awe. That’s Lee Minho, or as fans would call him, Lee Know. He’s known for his incredible dancing ability, being a professional dancer before his idol career even started. However as she stands in front of him, all she can think about is his beauty.
Y/N’s alpha chuffs at her, forcing her to focus.
Quickly getting her bearings together, she answers his question.
“Yes, sorry to bother you, my name is Kim Y/N. I was recently hired as the new Head Manager of Stray Kids and I was hoping to come and informally introduce myself.” She says cheerfully, keeping her language professional but open.
Lee Know eyes her, his gaze full of skepticism. “Head Manager?”
“Yes, it’s a newer position. Essentially, I oversee all that has to do with Stray Kids. Since we’ll be working together quite a bit, I was hoping we could chat all chat for a bit?”
His body shifts, leaning more against the door, trying to hide the space that lies behind him.
“We weren’t informed of this.. new position.” His voice cuts out a bit sharper.
Y/N begins to panic, he doesn’t believe her. This is not good, she didn’t think of the possibility that they might be hostile and not even let her in. Quickly trying to prove her sincerity, she bows, and begins to try and convince him
“I want to apologize for that. This role is very.. intricate so JYP-nim and I have had to take quite the precautions to keep it secret. I assure you that I am not here to cause any problems.”
His eyes slightly widen in surprise, but so subtly that it’s hard to notice. He doesn’t respond, simply staring into her eyes with an unwavering gaze.
Y/N quickly fumbles out, “We can call JYP-nim to confirm this if that’d make you more comfortable. I truly just want to introduce myself and a bit about my role to you all, but if this is upsetting then I can drop it.”
His stance shifts again, him now standing up straight with his arms crossed. He seems to be pondering, deliberating whether or not to trust her.
He finally takes in a deep breath, and begins to speak.
From there he turns around and shuts the door behind him.
Y/N stands anxiously. She doesn’t know if that was a way for him to get out of the situation and call for help or if he was informing the others of her presence.
She fiddles with her fingers as she waits, hoping that he was receptive to what she had to say.
A few minutes later the door opens again, another person stepping out and replacing Lee Know.
Y/N gulps, she’s definitely being kicked off their property. Now standing in front of her was Bang Chan, the leader of Stray Kids.
Unexpectedly, he smiles and reaches his hand out.
“I’m Bang Chan, it’s nice to meet you.”
Slowly, Y/N shakes his hand back, completely taken aback by his easygoing demeanor.
“Lee Know informed me that you're our Head Manager?”
She nods, “Yes, I was hoping to introduce myself and explain a bit about my role to you all.”
He gives a nod and takes a step back, opening up the space for her to walk through. Hesitantly, she follows.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Y/N walks into their dorm and is immediately flooded with the combined scents of omega. The space reads safe, this is a safe space, their safe space.
Chan gestures for her to take her shoes off before silently continuing down the hallway. She follows behind him, observing the decor. It’s a bit bland but still homey, they’ve definitely prioritized comfort over design.
Eventually he leads her to the livingroom, where the rest of the group is spread out.
Immediately all eyes are on her, observing the new person. She looks around the room, matching their gazes while taking note of each member’s appearances.
Chan breaks the silence by clearing his throat.
“Guys, this is Kim Y/N, our new head manager.”
Y/N smiles and gives a deep ninety degree bow towards them.
“Hello, it’s nice to meet you all.” She responds.
The group stares, mixed reactions filling the room. Felix looks at her with a welcoming gaze, giving her one of his signature smiles. Beside him, I.N. stares blankly, his face matching Seungmin’s who sits a bit farther from the two. Hyunjin’s eyes flicker between her, Chan, and Lee Know, confusion heavy in his gaze. Han sits scooted into Hyunjin's side, nervousness very apparent while Changbin sits grumpily, clearly just woken up.
“I’m sorry that this is so sudden, I don’t mean to intrude especially on your rest day. However, I would like to introduce myself, in a setting that isn't work.”
Despite their various reactions, the group is definitely paying attention, tuning in to what she has to say.
“About a month or so ago, JYP-nim scouted me for a position he had in the works. He was hoping to create a role that has more accessibility and is able to engage more. Typically managers are only able to focus on the idols themselves and not any of the behind the scenes stuff. He thought that made it a bit more difficult for things within the company to function, so as a solution he made the Head Manager position.”
The boys nod along, ingesting the information given. Some of them seem intrigued, others weary. Y/N pushes back the critical reaction from a certain member and continues.
“I’ve been tasked to manage all things Stray Kids. Scheduling, Transportation, Safety, all of the nuisances that go into your careers I oversee.”
A look of confusion flashes over Chan’s face but before he can ask a question Lee Know cuts in.
“How does your oversight help make things more efficient? It sounds just like another person to get approval from.”
Chan eyes him sharply, not approving of his tone. Lee Know brushes off the look.
“It’s not that you would be reporting to me through the staff, but more so everyone comes directly to me and vice versa. For example, let’s say that the stylists needed to squeeze in some last minute measurements and adjustments, they’d have to come to me and get permission because I oversee your schedules. If you all were already booked for something or had scheduled time off they’d have to wait or work around it instead of bothering you all.”
Nods of understanding flow through the room, some faces approving.
“My role mainly is to plan and enforce things. Having someone to officially dictate what is and isn't allowed will help bring more clarity and direction, hopefully restarting the system to be more efficient and less cut throat.”
As Y/N finishes explaining, I.N raises his hand with a question.
“From the way you're describing this, it doesn't sound like you’ll have much involvement with us.”
“This job has a lot of requirements. I still act as a standard manager to Stray Kids, like any other manager you’ve had before. But additionally, I have those other responsibilities that I mentioned. ” She explains.
I.N. blinks in understanding.
“Though, in regards to you all, there is another piece that is specifically for you eight.”
Y/N gently adds, subtly beginning to hint at her second reason for being their manager.
“What do you mean by another piece?” Hyunjin questions.
Y/N takes a deep breath before starting to slowly explain, placing her words carefully.
“JYP has expressed his concerns that you may be struggling more intensely than other groups because you're an all omega pack.”
The air immediately turns tense as the conversation changes from professional to intrusive.
A disagreeing growl comes from one of the members, with the rest of them wearing uncomfortable looks on their faces. Lee Know and Changbin in particular are the most visibly defensive.
They suddenly do not want to hear the rest of what she has to say. The insinuation that they are more vulnerable simply due to their subgenders is belittling.
Y/N watches the group’s strong reaction to her words. It’s clear that this is a highly independent and hardworking group, they don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it’s based on ignorant stereotypes.
Taking a deep breath she continues,
“I want to clarify that neither JYP nor I are trying to discriminate against you all, that's not what’s happening. In fact, under any other circumstances, this thought wouldn’t have even been weighed. There’s nothing wrong with a pack or even mates consisting outside of typical arrangements. The fact that you all are omegas doesn’t negate that you are a very strong pack. The concern lies less within you as idols and Stray Kids but more so you as people.”
Some of their hackles lower, her clarification taking away the immediate defensiveness, though the group still carries some apprehension at her last few words.
Quietly a voice asks, “What does us as people mean?”
Y/N’s attention moves to the owner of the voice, Felix, and gives him a small smile.
“The kpop industry is very cruel, you all know that. The pressure and intensity brought upon idols is sickening. There are so many standards and expectations that you have to mold into, you have to face the harshest criticism and hate, and overall you have to morph yourself into a state where you can endure it all despite the repercussions.”
Solemn looks of understanding wash upon their faces. They know it all too well, this is something they’ve lived through for the past five years.
“The effects of this system are really damaging. They impact your mental and emotional health, not to mention the physical strain that comes from intense practices, unbalanced diets, and a lack of sleep.”
Her words seep deeply, hitting some members harder than others.
“Typically the way to soften these effects is by having another person to use as an outlet. In most cases that person is an alpha, someone who is instinctually made to comfort and protect.”
Y/N’s stance shifts as she braces to finally say the full truth.
“The problem is that you all only have each other to rely on. There’s nobody that has the capacity to truly soothe and regulate at the level you all need.”
Each member tenses at her admission, heavily relating to her words. Her explanation rears of years of pain and suffering that have been swept away simply because they had to push through it.
“There’s nothing wrong with you all as people or as omegas. There’s nothing wrong with your pack either. But because of the lives you live, you have to have another person to help stabilize and provide the safety you need to keep you happy and healthy.”
Silence fills the room after she finishes speaking. Each person deep in thought, reeling from her words.
I.N. sits in confusion, trying to wrap his head around the fact that she is right. Her words depict the exact feelings that are stored down deep in his heart, the situation that his wolf strongly attests to.
Hyunjin sifts through his emotions. She’s put words to a situation that he’s unknowingly been stuck in. Subconsciously he realized that there was something going on with him and his wolf, but now having it plainly laid out for him is mind boggling.
Felix is undecided. From the moment she walked in, his wolf immediately liked her. Pushing away his omega’s feelings he tried to make his own opinion on her. But after hearing her words and agreeing with everything she has to say, he was immediately swayed. Both him and his wolf can feel that she is good for them. But what does that mean for the pack, for their future?
Changbin wrestles with himself. For years he’s repeatedly pushed through and endured while trying to rid himself of the issue, but it’s finally apparent that he just isn’t enough to fix it. He never was.
Han is hopeful. He was a bit apprehensive of her and what she had to say, especially towards the beginning. But after hearing her exactly describe their situation and seeing her smile at Felix, he has hope that she knows what to do. Even if it causes a bit of change.
Seungmin is riddled with uncertainty. He knows that Y/N is right, that all her words have truth. His wolf feels it, agreeing with everything she has to say and begging for him to listen to her. But what can she do? How can anyone fix them and all the brokenness they carry if they couldn’t even fix it themselves?
Lee Know is frustrated. Every word that she spoke was the raw unadulterated truth and it’s pissing him off. How could she do this, waltz right in and read them so clearly? She was able to identify the problem that's been rooted in their pack for years, the one that he’s so desperately searched for.
Chan sits in defeat. He feels like he’s failed himself, his wolf, and his pack by making them undergo these conditions for so long. All this ime he felt the weight that the group's been carrying but didn’t realize how much it truly affected them, how much it was hurting them.
Y/N stands and watches the group. She sees as each member battles with themselves, trying to ingest all the information she just gave them, the truth.
The group processes silently, each of them managing their thoughts and emotions. Slowly, a consensus spreads across the room, they need to listen to whatever she says.
Seungmin speaks out first, “So how does this problem relate to the second piece that you mentioned earlier?”
Y/N smiles to herself. They seem ready to listen, like they’ve sorted through their thoughts and have accepted their fate. Nodding at Seungmin’s question, she explains.
“As I mentioned before, you all are missing someone to rely on, a centerpiece to your pack. JYP had identified this same issue and came up with the solution to bring someone in, to help regulate and recenter the group. That someone is me.”
Eyes widen and jaws drop, every person shocked at her admission. She’s going to join the pack?
“Bring someone in, as in, join the pack?” Felix stutters out.
“Yes.” Y/N replies simply.
The members look at each other, a mix of emotions running between them.
Is this okay, is everyone alright with another person joining the pack? Do they even want to add another person? How would they go about it, they don’t have the time to bond or court another person, speaking of which, who was she? Could she be trusted with this group, with their hearts?
Silent conversations run between them, small communications translating through eye movements and facial expressions.
Y/N stands apprehensively. They”re not saying anything, not even looking at her. She doesn’t know how they feel about this, if they’re upset, disappointed, frightened.
Desperately seeking an answer, she interrupts their staring and says,
“I’m not here to harm anyone.”
Eight heads snap towards her, surprised at her words.
“I know this is all very sudden. I come in here and tell you that I’m joining your pack as a way to fix a problem. It’s very unorthodox, and a bit suspicious.”
Y/N’s tone changes. Her professional wording begins to slip, displaying the true person that's been hidden this entire time.
“It’s also a little bit disrespectful, me intruding into your well established pack, without permission. Or even me coming in here, into your space, your nest, without any regard to how you may feel about it.” She continues, her head angled down.
“But when I read your files, looked at your incident reports, and understood what was happening, what you all were going through… I couldn’t help myself. My alpha cried out in want, telling me I needed to take this job, to be here.”
The group stares in awe at her, completely unaware that she was even an alpha. The air in the room begins to change again, the space becoming deeply emotional.
“You don’t know me, and I don’t know you. But I know that you all need help, and I can provide that. I can be here to lift that burden off your shoulders, be the anchor this pack needs”
Y/N steadily lowers herself down. She bends over and places her hands on the ground, resting her head on top of them. She’s fully seated in a deep bow, the deepest form of respect one can give.
“So please, if you will have me, allow me to join your pack, and be the alpha you all need.”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Felix’s eyes prick with tears as he stares at the woman on the floor. His omega stirs up inside him urging him to go and comfort their alpha. She’s fully exposed, bowing at them, asking to join their pack. He stares in awe, completely enamored. He wants to go to her, hug her, and accept her.
He knew it from the moment she walked it but this just confirms it. This woman was sent for them.
He looks around the room, seeing if any of his pack mates plan to make a move. He notices the way all of their eyes glisten, wet as they take in the sight before them. They feel the exact same way he does, he knows it.
He decides to make the first move.
Felix stands up from the ground, his eyes flashing gold as his omega slowly surfaces. He slowly walks over crouching down and resting on his knees in front of her. He reaches his hand out and gently pats her head.
Y/N looks up at him with tears in her eyes, completely surprised that he came to her. She slowly lifts her upper body up and stares back at him in wonder.
Felix smiles at her, mirroring the same one she gave him just minutes ago.
“We'd be honored for you to join our pack.”
Y/N eyes widen in shock before she bursts into tears. They said yes, they’re letting her into their pack.
Their confirmation makes Y/N so incredibly elated, to the point that she can’t hold it in anymore. She finally lets go of all the emotions she’s held through this conversation, her scent being completely let free.
The scent of happy pleased alpha fills the space, flooding all of their senses.
Felix lets out a keen, completely wrecked by experiencing such strong yet comforting pheromones. His omega jumps with glee at the smell, finally having an alpha's scent to comfort him.
He leans forward and falls into her chest, desperate to get closer to the source. Y/N grabs him, wrapping her arms around his waist in a tight hug.
Felix nuzzles into her neck gland, completely infatuated with her smell. Y/N nuzzles back, resting her face in his hair. She gently rubs his back and lets out a comforting rumble.
