This is entirely headcanons and my memory of exact plot stuff is fuzzy so don't take it too serious

I think they're hesitantly dating after the first 3 games. Taking it kinda slow, just sorta figuring out what they want and how to get along

Then phoenix loses his badge. He becomes more closed off. Edgeworth doesn't fully get the games Kristoph and phoenix are playing but he rlly wants to be supportive so he tries, even tho he thinks phoenix is throwing his life away. Their relationship is strained and they argue more but also still rlly care about each other and are trying but bad at showing it. And sometimes when miles is traveling for work and agent lang shows up, they might do something. Miles immediately feels guilty afterwards but eventually as time goes on and it becomes more frequent, he stops caring as much. Ofc he doesnt tell lang about phoenix but lang can tell smth is up

As for phoenix all alone in japanifornia? His visits with kristoph become increasingly frequent and more self destructive. Their games become increasingly more sexually charged until they're doing the most unethical consentual bdsm shit to each other. Basically this way they can just directly attack the other and if anything is brought up about it they can say it was just part of the scene. Edgeworth has a hunch of what they're doing but doesn't know how extreme it is

Eventually after the events of apollo justice phoenix tells miles everything and starts to feel guilty for never saying anything. Miles tells phoenix about the stuff with lang and they start to do things to make up for it all and to try and become close again

And then they're married by spirit of justice not bc they particularly were like "our relationship must culminate in marrige" but mainly for legal reasons including custody of trucy

Miles outright denies who Larry is. ahahahaah. Miles, how could you. After everything I've said about you being a gooddie friend. He's suddenly someone you don't know. He went from unable to handle it to outright denying that Larry is not Steel Samurai to not knowing Larry!

Franziska never wasted a second of letting Miles ever forget she's his boss! No Edgeworth. She is never ever going to stop it. Like even beyond this and future parties involved. With Maya and Phoenix. She will bring it up every single time. Even on his marriage. Or anniversary!
