Oh, I can answer that one! Professors are, like. Old(er? It depends on the place) men who know a lot about how things work. I think there's a couple women professors, too? But it's mostly men.
Uh, I looked it up and apparently the one in Hoenn's called Birch? I can't send pictures with this thing, though. He's got short brown hair and. He's wearing some long white jacket thing called a labcoat. Works in a town called Littleroot, apparently? ...Sorry if that's not much help.

Um, I'm Sinnohan, so I'm not sure. Hoenn's a pretty long train ride away, so I've never been.
I've never heard of a Dreamland either... Is it just called that, or are you literally from dreams? Like a Munna kind of situation?
No idea what a Munna is, but Dreamland, while not literally being a dream, has a strong connection to dreams!
There's a lot of history between trainers (usually humans, though non-humans are welcome to become trainers if they so choose) and pokemon. Using a pokeball on a pokemon is an offer of companionship - to travel together, for as long as you both can do so. Remaining in the pokeball is a pokemon accepting that offer. Sometimes, pokemon wish for proof that their trainer will take care of them and help them become better, so they don't take the first offer. They might take an offer later, once the trainer has proven themself. The main show of proof is a sporting match of strength known as a pokemon battle (usually shortened to "battle") though other ways exist.
