Something really interesting about the witchers is that Lambert is the only one who is loud about his anger and resentment towards the lifestyle. Much more a fight than a fawn. He doesn’t quietly take it and internalize it like Eskel, doesn’t believe what people say to him like Geralt, he’s mad. He’s mad and it all boils and cycles back to a lack of control over his life? Like: abused by his father, taken from family by a law of complete surprise and chance, forced to become a witcher and then forced to take contracts because what else could he do? The world isn’t kind to witchers, if he didn’t monster hunt he’d starve to death. He hasn’t had a single choice in his entire life. None of them have, but Lambert is the only one who hasn’t quietly accepted it, and that’s almost something to respect. He knows just as well as the others that the way they were treated and experimented on was wrong but he externalized it instead of internalizing it. He isn’t quiet, he isn’t happy to go along. He’s waspish and angry at his personal world and who can really blame him? It’s obvious he cares about the family he has but it’s just as obvious he resents the path that was laid down for him before he was even ten. Everything cycles back to how any choice is better than no choice, and how no choice isn’t something acceptable and can hurt you years and years after it was taken from you.
