Important PSA for JRWI fans
If you're a minor, artist, cosplayer or anyone who participates in zines, please read this, it is very important because I'm not sure how many artists are actually aware of this and have fallen for it.
Now I'm not on Tumblr a lot nor do I like to make posts like this, but this is just too important to not bring up.
I won't be naming specific names, as there is a minor involved in this, however I believe its important people are aware of the blog so that they know to avoid it.
As per usual, DO NOT GO HARASS THESE PEOPLE. This is merely a post to inform people to AVOID and NOT SUPPORT this project.
Recently I found out about a Blood in the Bayou zine by 'just-zine-with-it' opened its sign up forms, and like a lot of artists I at first assumed it was a regular project, letting other artists know since it's not often projects like these come up. That was until I received a DM showing a GLARING issue.
Now unless you live under a rock, most people know that these subject matters are EXTREMELY inappropriate, especially considering
a. The Council have specifically stated their boundaries around NSFW content, and this more than crosses those boundaries.
b. There are a lot of minors in this space, both regular viewers and creators, who should definitely not be exposed to these sort of topics that are frankly quite illegal.
"But they put a warning" yeah, at the very bottom of the post. If you're like me and a lot of other artists, you might have seen them put 'Dead Dove' and simply assumed they were talking about the use of gore since this is a project for a Call of Cthulhu campaign and is known for being quite gory compared to the rest of the campaigns in JRWI.
However, I would like to note how not only do they actually include NSFW and problematic topics, but the fact that these warnings are kept at the bottom of their guidelines page.
And I want to note, no where on these pages nor their main blog account do they ever state that this project is for 18+, meaning they are perfectly open for minors to join this project.
Again, I'd like to note the fact that on their main blog they don't state anywhere that this is for 18+ participants only nor that it can contain NSFW/sexual themes. It just looks like a perfectly normal zine blog that anyone can apply for. It's borderline predatory considering what some of these people support.
And before someone points it out, yes I am calling them out despite their wish to "not be involved in drama". When you decide to go out of your way to allow these topics in spaces with minors in them, it becomes our job as adults in the fandom to help maintain the fandom as a safe space, especially when there is a large majority of minors that use Tumblr as their main social media. If you want to participate in illegal and wrong subjects do it in your own private servers, don't try and sneak it into public spaces.
Or better yet, just don't. But there's not a lot I can do about a persons personal online wrong-doings.
The main mod for this project is a pro-shipper and 'anti anti' and as you can see from their account, is quite proud of the fact, even having a "anti censorship" server for JRWI fans despite again, the Councils explicate request to not create subject matter about this.
As for another mod, I'm surprised to find them involved in this project considering they only got out of a drama involving exposing minors to NSFW topics only a few months ago. As an artist I used to respect and like, I am more than disappointed to see them getting so closely involved that is WORSE than what they were accused of before.
Also the fact that despite promoting other projects on their other social media, there seems to be a lack of advertising for this one, which I suspect to be them hiding this from the larger community on purpose.
As for the other mod who is a confirmed minor, I can only hope they're unaware of how wrong the stuff they're allowing in this zine actually is. Again they're a kid, they don't know any better, but I really hope they can separate themselves from this project before its too late.

I've talked to other artists who both considered joining or actually joined and many have told me how they didn't actually see that warning or caught it just in time, which shows how weirdly shady this zine is by sneaking these topics into a place where younger or newer artists won't know any better.
So if you're an artist who has seen this zine and is considering applying don't, and if you've already applied I implore you to back away from the project.
Especially if you are a cosplayer, I doubt anyone would want to have their face or name associated with a project like this. There are far more trustworthy figures in this fandom that organize zines and projects, and there will be many more opportunities to join safer events.
I don't want to have to ask but I believe it's important this information is shared to other JRWI artists on this site, it's important for people to speak out about these issues so that the wider community who don't know or are misinformed can make wise decisions and avoid people and projects like this.
This isn't some petty drama, this is serious and deplorable and needs to be called out so stuff like this doesn't fester.
Remember to check every piece of information in a project and double check the creators behind them. Stay safe out there.
