Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this 👇
And this gem 👇
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
📺Here is my list:
Proko (Free, mostly teaches anatomy and how to draw people. But does have art talks and teaches the basics.)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard and teaches you everything)
Aaron Rutten (free, tips about art, talks about art programs and the best products for digital art)
BoroCG (free, teaches a verity of art mediums from 3D modeling to digital painting. As well as some tips that can be used across styles)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free, teaches digital painting and has classes in Spanish)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price. Mostly teaching character designs and simple backgrounds.)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney. Mostly nature art)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Sinix Design (has some tips on drawing people)
Winged canvas (art school for free on a verity of mediums)
Bob Ross (just a good time, learn how to paint, as well as how too relax when doing art. "there are no mistakes only happy accidents", this channel also provides tips from another artist)
Scott Christian Sava (Inspiration and provides tips and advice)
Pikat (art advice and critiques)
Drawbox (a suggested cheap online art school, made of a community of artist)
Skillshare (A cheap learning site that has art classes ranging from traditional to digital. As well as Animation and tutorials on art programs. All under one price, in the USA it's around $34 a month)
Human anatomy for artist (not a video or teacher but the site is full of awesome refs to practice and get better at anatomy)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
📚Here is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99 usd, IPAD & IPHONE ONLY)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, animation and more. Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Aseprite ($19.99 usd but has a free trail, for pixel art Windows & macOS)
Drawpile (free and for if you want to draw with others)
IbisPaint (free, phone app ONLY)
Medibang (free, IPAD, Android and PC)
NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.
"also apologies for any spelling or grammar errors, I have Dyslexia and it makes my brain go XP when it comes to speech or writing"
Boosting this in case any of the programs and books suggested are useful.
All the photos on this tumblr ad the animal photo reference site I run is another resource available for artists to use!
As long as you’re not using AI to create your art, you can reference / trace / draw / recombine / make any sort of art you want, with any of the photos, for free.
There's also MORPHO, a really good book series on anatomy by Michel Lauricella, with very clear explanations and sketches!
And for pose references, there's @adorkastock who shares a ton of them for free, with different models and props, and her website is amazing <3 you can also buy pose packs from her.

I just saw an absolutely brilliant musical about Elisabeth/Sisi! (It reminds me a bit of Nosferatu by the way)
The story begins with her assassin explaining that he killed Elisabeth because she wanted to die, having fallen in love with Death.
Essentially, when she was young, Elisabeth had an accident, but Death himself caught up with her, sparing her life because he falls in love with her.
However (after she falls in love with him in return at first sight), she begged him to take her with him because in his arms she felt safer than ever, free, and understood like with no one else. Death refused.
Time passed, and she ended up married, as we all know, to Franz and she no longer wanted to die.
However, Death returned, like a jealous lover, determined to take Elisabeth, who refused him.
He also telling her in passing that no matter how many dances she has, it is with him that she will have her last one (since he is death).
He would then stalk her throughout her life, trying to convince her to die whenever a problem arose in her life. And in the end, of course, they are united in death.
A must-see if you like relationships like Darklina, Saurondriel, Erikstine, Ellen & Orlok, Dracmina, Luc & Addie, Elizabeth & the Creature, Sarah & Jareth, etc.

Always thinking about how the only reason Victor and Eli met in the first place is because they both fucking SUCK (affectionate)
Like Eli only moved to lockland bc his gf's dad met him One Time and immediately went "I will pay you however much money you want to not only break up with my daughter but change schools entirely" AND HE DID
And the only reason he got assigned as Victor's roommate in the middle of the school year is because Victor did god knows what to the last guy unfortunate enough to be assigned to him
That's some real soulmate shit to me
Was it casual when you put your life into my hands and let me drown you in a bathtub and then resurrect you by misusing stolen epi pens so you could get superpowers?
to everyone saying if Eli and Victor had fucked nasty in college it wouldn't have played out as it did. you're right. it'd have been worse.

Victor and Eli ruining everyone's lives just cause they didn't make out in college
Eli is kind of the funniest guy in the world because imagine killing someone, missing them so much that you genuinely develop psychosis to the point of hallucinating and talking to the hallucination, fully convinced it’s a ghost haunting you, when in reality it’s just your own distorted, cruel mind playing tricks on you, and then discovering that the person is alive and continuing to talk to the "ghost" anyway (might as well). And after that proceed to try to kill the bastard again, as if the second time is going to be the charm. As if repetition is going to turn violence into closure. As if you hadn’t already described feeling neither peace nor calm the first time nothing you wanted, nothing you expected to gain from it. No relief. No satisfaction. Just the same hollow aftermath.
And yet you do it again.
Just one of the guys of all time.
Sure, a movie adaptation of Vicious sounds fun
HOWEVER
My issue with it is that there's no way to possibly do an adaptation that correctly shows just how much of Victor's time is spent chilling on the couch looking perfectly normal while he's vividly fantasizing about killing his situationship in a way that can only be described as seventh base
Victor Vale, do you actually want to kill Eli Ever? Or do you just want to be at the forefront of his mind again as you twist the knife into his stomach? Do you actually want him dead or do you just want him to pray to you like he prays to god?
- P. Califia, "Public Sex"
That was 1986. In some ways it's gotten so much better. In all too many ways it still hits hard.
"Even those of us who are deviants or sex radicals or both can't seem to stop apologizing for the shabby forms our society often forces Eros to assume" is... whoof.
Full text:
"The Meese Commission has highlighted the failure of most civil libertarians to deal directly with porn. The typical anticensorship witness argued that we can't ban porn because the next things to go would be important - art, literature, theater, legitimate film, political protest. But this claim rings hollow. Silencing artists and radicals is not on the Commission's agenda. Most of the commissioners are quite plain about the fact that they just don't like people having sex out of wedlock or looking at porn and not feeling guilty about it.
The flaws of pornography make it difficult to defend. Much of it is sexist, made under poor working conditions, overpriced, and controlled by the Mafia. But you can't fix any of these problems by making it even more illegal and harder to get. The more marginal, the more persecuted porn is, the worse it will become. And the new producers who are gambling with nonsexist, challenging material will be squeezed out of business.
More of us have to start saying that we use porn, like it, and want it to be accessible. Even given the constraints under which it is currently produced, pornography is valuable. It sends out messages of comfort and rebellion. It says: Lust is not evil. The body is not hateful. Physical pleasure is a joyful thing and should not be hidden or denied. It is not true that women have no sexual hunger. There are other people who think about and do the things you dream about. Freedom is possible.
There is a choice.
Even those of us who are deviants or sex radicals or both can't seem to stop apologizing for the shabby forms our society often forces Eros to assume. Meanwhile, war has been declared against the sexual imagination, and I'm afraid we're all going to lose."
Just gonna keep reblogging this forever
Lust is not evil. The body is not hateful. Physical pleasure is a joyful thing and should not be hidden or denied. It is not true that women have no sexual hunger. There are other people who think about and do the things you dream about. Freedom is possible.
There is a choice.
The number of people on this site who hold otherwise progressive values yet who will fight you to death like a wild dog over any one of these sentences is absolutely wild.
There is a really toxic, sex negative culture fermenting under the surface, especially in younger generations who are, unless they get really cool with a bunch of freaky AND NORMAL shit really fast, in danger of handing an entire treasure chest of victories over to conservatives that will immediately be used against them.
This right here is a lot of the reason i keep being so outrageously lewd here - i couldn't find the porn i wanted, so i had to make it. i love that other people also enjoy it, and maybe get off to it, or just see that they're not alone with their fantasies
