For anyone wondering about the Holmes Regents Park play- it's good. I'm really enjoying it (we're on interval right now) and so far it's a combo of The Sign of Four and The Bruce-Partington Plans with quite a bit of it's own stuff thrown in there. It's clearly not aiming to be a Holmes adaptation, but a reimagining and it's very very good (so far!)
#they keep diving into Holmes drug problem (but they're saying it's opium rather than cocaine- which eh Holmes didn't do that but whatever)#which is interesting#I disliked Mycroft but loved the Holmes brother banter#(it's a bad Mycroft)#and I do think we are heading for the final problem- but I have no soild proof#(but to be fair I think we're always heading for the final problem)#and Holmes and Watson keep arguing which is actually pretty in line with some of the sign of four#(and is part of the reason- excluding pure vibes- I think the final problem is incoming)#(and by the final problem I mean a fake death)#the backstory they've given Mary is very interesting#and we seem to actually be doing things with the fact that her actress is mixed race rather than just ignoring it#which I do like#(she's illegitimate and faces horrific racism at her trial)#(but the impact of that is lessened slightly when we're told Mycroft messed with her trail- and not in a good way)#anyway!#I'm having fun#id recommend it but this is the last show#sherlock holmes#regents park open air theater#also it's raining. and I'm fucking freezing#also! Holmes is snarky#which I love#and the police tell them to eff off which was brill#but Holmes is too much of an arse to Watson#which is not good
