My brother and I both had original furbies. When we didn't want to play with them anymore we'd put them in a drawer in the guest bedroom so they'd go to sleep. We did not tell Grandma we did this. Grandma would stay over for a few days at a time in the guest bedroom. Grandma also had a bad back, which means she thumped around a lot. Grandma was also a notorious night owl.

Cue grandma thumping her way to bed one night and suddenly a warbling voice in the darkness says 'OOoohh.... HUNGRY'

I love how it alternates between cute things and horrors when it's not both. Hasbro understood the cursed pop culture aspect of furbies, I mean they know the fury mod community exists since they made their own long furby. I think they try to make them popular again by pandering to this image, which is why they partner left and right.
