Autumn swept me off my feet, and this is what it inspired in me.
This is Puerku — in Latin, “pumpkin boy,” a creature that appears during the Halloween season. Despite his rather eerie appearance, he is not evil at all — on the contrary, he is friendly and sweet, at least until some local intellectual wannabes decide to take him away from the place he has chosen to settle.
Puerku’s eyelids are sewn shut, yet he can still see thanks to the vine-eyes that grow from his back. As you can tell from the drawing, the creature is mute and mostly communicates through actions, which makes spending time with him quite fun. His facial expressions are very charismatic, so his emotions are always vivid and easy to read.
Instead of ears, Puerku has little pieces of apple, and his hands resemble leaves. From time to time, the pumpkin boy decorates his eyes with flowers so he won’t look too frightening and scare away potential companions. His hair is replaced by a pumpkin, which may take different shapes.
Turning to his darker side: Puerku strongly dislikes being treated as a toy or an object. If someone dares to “kidnap” him, he will bind them with his vine-eyes and sew their mouth and eyes shut.
Puerku is very small — about 10 cm tall.
That’s all. Thank you for your attention.
